She still couldn't quite believe it, even now. Her heart still sank at the memory of that yellow, beastly face, muscles so thick they seemed to fill her entire field of vision. And every time the thought crept back in, it left her unable to stop it from crippling her mind.
So she sat atop the first carriage, cross-legged, wind rippling through her hair in slow waves, trying her best not to let the oppressive silence swallow her from the inside. To cope, Diaila tried thinking of something else.
Anything that might help her push through this ordeal. But every time she tried, the only thing that filled her mind was Julaibib.
Which made sense. He was the one who'd gotten her into the Academy, and who kept feeding her EP for whatever she wanted.
