Sky's blue eyes were completely blank. Theophane, for the first time since the Entrance Test — since Cassius had taken the key — felt something deep in her chest twist and recoil, an unreasonable wave of emotion threatening to overwhelm her.
She was afraid, and angry. Afraid of her own failure and what it meant for her. Angry at her inability to control the battlefield, and the consequences of that failure.
