Chapter 264 – Meadow's Love Life
"I think I love someone."
Cassius turned his head toward her swiftly, eyebrow raised, "Love?"
Meadow smiled a bit shyly, as if unused to the feeling herself. "Yes, love. Is that surprising?"
"Not really. But you said 'I think.' You're not sure, then?"
"I've never been in love. I can't be sure."
"Or maybe you are sure, but telling yourself you're not makes it easier to back out if things fall apart?"
Meadow paused mid-step, sparing Cassius, who smiled at her knowingly, a dark glance.
"I hate when you know exactly what I'm feeling, Cassius."
"Don't worry. You're not the only one." He chuckled, "Still, I didn't expect you to fall in love. Care to share the lucky man?"
"Lucky man?" She muttered, embarrassed.
"No, please, Meadow. Drop the lovesick-maiden look." He grimaced, looking at her face.
She stared at him blankly, clearly annoyed. She huffed and walked a bit faster.
