Hades stared at her.
The word hung in the air between them, echoing in the quiet cottage. His expression was frozen, his ancient mind struggling to process what she had just said.
A kiss.
"You want me to kiss you," he said slowly, his voice flat with disbelief.
Drucella held his gaze. Her fear had faded, replaced by something bolder. Something calculating.
"Yes," she said simply.
Hades took a step back, putting distance between them. His jaw tightened. His eyes narrowed.
"Why?"
Drucella walked to her armchair and sat down, crossing her legs. She gestured for him to sit across from her.
"Let me explain," she said. "There are two ways to save your mortal. The first is a sacrifice—a life for a life. Blood for blood. I would need to take someone else's essence, someone young and healthy, and transfer it to him. But from the way you've described your boyfriend, he would never agree to that. He would rather die than let someone else die for him."
