The penthouse was silent.
Hades stood in the kitchen, Ken's letter clutched in his hands, his eyes scanning the words over and over again.
I love you. I thought that was enough.

He read it once. Twice. Three times.
Then he crumpled it in his fist.
He left. He actually left.
Hades stared at the crumpled paper, his jaw tight, his eyes cold.

He smoothed the paper out again, reading the final lines once more.

He folded the letter carefully and slipped it into his pocket. Then he walked to the bedroom and looked at the empty closet. Ken's clothes were gone. His sketchbook. His brushes. The things that mattered to him.
Maybe we both need time to cool off.
But the thought sat uneasily in his chest.
