Chapter 99 - Night-time

Sylvia returned a moment later, sliding back into her seat. She noted the sudden change in his expression. "Lord Hades? Is everything all right?"

"Fine." Hades picked up his pen. "Let's finish these contracts. I need to pick up Ken in forty-five minutes."

He didn't mention Hannah's parting gesture. He didn't need to. Sylvia had seen it. Her expression said everything.

​She's playing games.

​He decided to make a mental note to keep an eye on Hannah Cross.

Soon after, he left to pick up Ken, and they headed together to the restaurant he had booked for the evening.

Ken recognized it the moment Hades pulled into the valet line. His stomach did a little flip.

"This is—I used to work here," Ken said, staring at the familiar facade—the wrought-iron gates, the lanterns, the ivy climbing the brick walls.

"I know," Hades said, handing his keys to the valet.

"But it's... it's empty. There are no cars."

"I booked the entire restaurant. For the night."
