Chapter 4 - Chapter four: The Contract

ELENA'S POV

Oooh Mister! You've got such masculine voice that can make a woman fall hard. I become giddy in my head.

"You like?" He raises an eyebrow.

Sexy! My heart screams. Someone pinch me, please.

Oops! I covered my mouth. What's wrong with you Elena? I hadn't known that I had said the words loudly.

He smirked in a handsome way. I shake my head to clear off the effect of the drink and stagger back to my seat at the counter.

"Baby, you haven't answered my question." he drawls.

"Uhh! I came here to have a good time."

"Really? Doesn't look like you're having fun to me. Looks more like you're trying to escape from something by drinking."

I put my hand on my chest and open my mouth. How does he know that something's bothering me? Then I smile. " Mr…?"

"Adrian. Call me Adrian." He says.

"…Adrian, do you go about studying people up and down?" I raised an eyebrow.

"No. Only someone that catches my attention when she wiggles her finger in front of the bartender for a drink." He laughs deeply.

"Oh… impressive. So you watched me humiliate myself then step in like a demigod, huh? Such pride you have there Mr Adrian."

He holds his chest and feigns hurt. "Touchè baby."

I access him up and down. He's nicely built. He has short curly black hair that has a bit of strands resting in his forehead. His sharp nose looks like it's been sculpted with much attention and his amber eyes like he is looking directly into my soul. His biceps are obvious from his clean white sleeves that've been rolled up his arms. The gold watch on his wrist compliments his skin tone well. Such exquisite taste he has. The first three buttons of the shirt are undone which reveals a bit of flesh and a firm chest. My gaze linger there for a moment before I drag my eyes down. His tailored pants look properly ironed such that the lines there could typically slice a yam.

My gaze lowers down to his shoes. Those shiny black shoes don't look like someone from just anywhere. It gives away wealth. They say a man's wealth is measured by what he wears on his feet. Minimal but elegant.

Impressive!

All the while his eyes light up in a smile. His lips curved upwards in a roguish manner. This man could literally make me lay on his feet in total surrender. Like, take me home handsome and do with me whatever you wish.

"Satisfied?" He asked.

"Huh? You wish." I roll my eyes.

The bartender keeps pouring for me and I keep drinking while Adrian watches me quietly. Then at once I start crying.

"I just want it all to end. The pain and this weight…this burden…every fucking thing. I want them to end. Ryan left me. Can you believe he told me he wants me to figure it out then maybe when all is settled we can come back together. I should have slapped him. But I love him." I pout.

"Ryan is my first love." I continued. "It's like the sun and the moon and fire and water. They can't meet or cohabit but they are paired together, yeah?"

"Yeah I get it." Adrian looks at me amused and tries not to laugh.

"And they wish to be together but can't. Now my nonna is gone and I don't have anybody. I'm alone in this world to fight all these stupid debts. If I don't pay within seven days. I'll be left with nothing, not even myself. I'll have to go work at that strip club until I'm able to complete that debt, which I don't think I'll ever be able to come out of." I lament.

"Only a miracle will help me out of this right now. Are you willing Mr Adrian? To take me? I don't give a bloody damn! My life's already done for anyways. Just make me yours. You look like you have so much money."

Get a grip of yourself. I scolded myself. What's come over you, Elena?

"Oh yeah? You want to be mine? Be careful what you wish for, baby." He looks at me with that seductive gaze again and I can't resist it.

"What, you scared?" I stand up and draw close to him till my lips are a few inches away from him. I bring out my tongue and run them on his lips then place my hands on his chest, that chest I've been longing to touch since he walked up to me. "What do you think, Mr Adrian?"

He grabs my waist and holds me firm. "I think you're drunk and need to calm down. I'm no saint, baby."

I lost it. "Why the hell does everyone keep telling me to calm the hell down like I'm some kid? Well I'm twenty-seven Mr Adrian and I say I want you. I lick my lips."

He tries to hide the surprise on his face, but too late as I catch a glimpse of it.

"Tempting offer" He stays still.

After a long silence, Adrian suddenly asks. "What would you do if someone solves all your problems tonight?"

I laugh bitterly. "Then I'll marry that person without thinking twice.

Adrian's eyes darken. "It is done then." He brings out his phone and makes a call.

Within minutes, a man, probably his lawyer, steps in with a document. He brings out a paper. Adrian takes it and places it on the table in front of me. My eyes catch the big bold word at the top: Marriage Contract.

This is ridiculous. But I do not think, I just go with the flow and sign it. After all, I do not get to think about paying debts inside this dream of mine.

Adrian watches as I pick up the pen and sign. He smiles slightly.

I drop the pen on the table and immediately Adrian grabs my arm and pulls me close. His light breath on my neck causes my heart to skip. I melt into his arms.

"Congratulations, Elena… you're now Mrs. De Luca."
