The portal pulsed.
Dark.
Violent.
Alive.
Jack stood at its edge, the energy brushing against his skin like something… aware.

Kalamar leaned forward slightly, his presence filling the chamber.
"We will place you in the Amazon."
Jack blinked.
"…Amazon?"
Eve spoke calmly.
"A Level 10 jungle within the Demon Realm."
Melyssa added:
"A training ground."
Kalamar's eyes burned.
"The demons send their offspring there… to kill, survive, and evolve before entering their Academy."
Jack smirked slightly.
"…so basically…"
He cracked his neck.
"A jungle full of demon kids trying to prove themselves."
Kalamar didn't smile.
"A jungle where the weak are devoured."
Silence.
Eve stepped forward.
"You will begin there."
Her voice was sharp.
"Level up."
"Adapt."
"Survive."
Kalamar raised his hand slightly.
"You are not to leave that jungle until you reach…"
A pause.

A faint system notification flickered in Jack's vision.

Jack nodded slowly.
"…Level 20."
Melyssa spoke softly:
"That is the minimum requirement to enter the Demon Academy."
Jack frowned slightly.
"…Academy?"
Eve nodded.
"Yes."
"All demons who show potential are sent there."
Kalamar's voice followed:
"Warriors. Generals. Future kings."
Jack's eyes sharpened.
"…and your daughter?"
Silence.
Then—
Kalamar answered.
"She is around your age."
Eve added quietly:
"If she lives… she will be there."

"No one will detect them as false."
Jack nodded.
"…so I blend in."
Eve's eyes narrowed.
"You survive first."

Hungry.
Jack stepped forward.
Then paused.
"…one more thing."
The gods looked at him.
Jack smirked.
"…when I come back…"
His eyes sharpened.
"…don't be surprised if I'm stronger than expected."
Kalamar laughed.
A deep, thunderous laugh.
"Survive first, mortal."
And with that—
Jack stepped into the portal.

Darkness swallowed him.
Then—
Impact.
Jack hit the ground hard, rolling across rough terrain before coming to a stop.
"…ugh…"
He pushed himself up slowly.
"…yeah… that landing was trash."
He looked up.
And froze.
The jungle was alive.
Not normal alive.
Wrong alive.
Trees twisted unnaturally, their bark blackened like burnt bone.
Vines moved slightly…
Even without wind.
The air was thick.
Heavy.
Like breathing something that didn't belong in your lungs.

He heard it.
A growl.
Low.
Hungry.
Close.
Jack turned slowly.
"…already?"
Two glowing red eyes stared at him from the darkness.
Then four.
Then eight.
Shapes began to emerge.

Fast.
Sharp.
Demon beasts.
