The next day, Luke was dragged out of bed by Krul.
"Hah~ Krul, what are you doing? I haven't slept enough yet."
Still not fully awake, Luke hugged his pillow and asked groggily.
Krul yanked him off the bed.
"Stop sleeping, are you a pig? Come with me, we're preparing to attack Shinjuku."
Only then did Luke get up, scratching his head in confusion.
"Huh? So sudden?"
Luke hadn't received any notification these past two days. How could they be attacking Shinjuku today?
Krul couldn't help but roll her eyes at Luke.
"You laze around doing nothing all day, and you weren't doing proper work at the Theater that day. How could it not feel sudden?"
Luke thought about it and agreed, but still retorted confidently.
"How was what I did that day not proper work?"
Krul couldn't be bothered to argue with Luke. She turned and opened the door, walking out of the room.
"Follow on your own. If you're the last to arrive again, you can run to Shinjuku."
"Wait for me, Krul!"
Luke quickly changed from his pajamas into casual clothes. He thought the combat uniform looked cool, but it was too troublesome to wear and only added a bit of defense.
After all, the face is the best fashion accessory.
Even in his haste, Luke couldn't resist glancing in the mirror, admiring himself.
"This guy really looks handsome in anything!"
"Alright, enough narcissism, let's go!"
Krul's voice came from outside the door.
Slightly surprised, Luke opened the door to see Krul standing outside with her arms crossed.
"Krul, didn't you leave first? Why are you still here?"
Krul answered casually.
"Afraid a certain narcissist couldn't find the departure point. Are you wearing just that?"
Luke smoothed the wrinkles on his T-shirt and looked at Krul.
"It's fine. The combat uniform isn't that useful. Don't you always prefer wearing dresses?"
Krul didn't say anything more and turned to leave, but after two steps, Luke picked her up in a princess carry.
"What are you doing now?"
Caught off guard and lifted up, Krul was somewhat surprised but didn't struggle.
Holding Krul, Luke walked towards the outside of the hall, smiling at Krul in his arms.
"Tell me the location. I'll run there."
"I can get there myself!"
"Don't be stubborn. Anyway, because of that big mouth Krul, the news about us dating has spread everywhere. I don't know how she found out."
Krul could only compromise, leaning against Luke's chest.
"Go left first."
Getting the direction, Luke started running with Krul in his arms, his speed too fast for the human eye to follow.
The wind from running tousled Krul's hair. Sensing Luke's scent, Krul muttered softly.
"Pervert!"
Luke still heard it, but he just smiled and chose not to tease her, increasing his speed.
A few minutes later, Luke appeared holding Krul at Sanguinem's Hidden Airfield.
Because Krul hadn't arrived earlier, Ferid was temporarily directing the order on site.
Planes were undergoing pre-flight checks. Lower-ranking Vampires bustled about, while Upper-ranking Vampires waited quietly to board.
Crowley stood to the side chatting with his two lackeys.
Mika and Lacus waited in a corner for Luke and Krul to arrive.
Watching Ferid command the Vampires, Lacus whispered to René.
"So impressive. It's a shame I'm already part of the Cute King faction. Otherwise, I'd try to get a taste of commanding Vampires. Power really is a good thing."
Mika asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Cute King? Lord Krul?"
Lacus crossed his arms into a big X shape.
"Boo-boo! It's Luke."
Mika really couldn't connect Luke with 'Cute King'. He only considered Lacus and René as friends.
This was the first time he heard Lacus call Luke that. They hadn't talked about Luke during missions; Lacus just focused on sucking blood, and Mika just hacked away at the Four Horsemen of John and the Imperial Demon Army.
As for René, he would never initiate conversation unless spoken to.
"Hahaha."
Mika looked at Hiiragi Shinya, frowning as he asked.
"What are you laughing at?"
Mika still disliked Hiiragi Shinya, unsure of his stance.
Hiiragi Shinya clutched his stomach laughing. He never expected Luke to have such an embarrassing nickname.
"Nothing."
Mika also couldn't be bothered to talk to Hiiragi Shinya. He turned his head, planning to ask Luke about the origin of the 'Cute King' title to share with everyone at the Hyakuya Orphanage later.
But René, who had been staring blankly at the entrance, suddenly spoke.
"Hey, is that the Cute King carrying Lord Krul over?"
"Where? Let me see... It is! Haha, the two Lords are such a perfect match!"
Following René's gaze, Lacus turned and indeed saw Luke quickly approaching with Krul in his arms. He couldn't help but exclaim.
As they were about to arrive, Krul said to Luke.
"That's enough. Let me go."
Thinking most Vampires were here, Luke put Krul down.
The two entered the airfield one after the other.
Krul immediately spotted Ferid giving orders in the field and frowned, about to step forward and take over command.
But Luke stopped her.
"Let him handle it. Let's rest."
Krul didn't quite understand Luke's meaning. He continued.
"The ultimate authority is in your hands. No matter how much Ferid does, he's still working for you. Just be careful not to let him sideline you."
If it were the original story, Krul might have gradually been sidelined by Ferid. But with Luke's experience of talking with the Vampires, Krul's rule was quite solid. After all, admiration for strength was quite common among Vampires.
Krul thought about it and realized Luke's words actually made some sense.
"Looking at the problem from a different angle really changes things. Alright, I'll listen to you."
Luke laughed.
"But there are also things that look the same no matter how you change the angle."
Seeing the mischievous smile on Luke's face, Krul knew he was starting to act up again. She turned and walked towards Mika and the others, with Luke quickly following.
"Hey? Ask me! You're making me look silly like this."
Krul shot him a glare, refusing to grant his wish.
Ferid noticed Krul's arrival as soon as she entered. But now, seeing Krul not coming over to take command, he was momentarily puzzled.
Did that guy Luke say something?
He couldn't figure it out. Krul really wasn't coming over. Ferid could only continue monitoring the situation, occasionally issuing commands.
Luke persisted.
"Just ask 'What looks the same no matter how you change the angle?' That's all."
Krul said impatiently.
"Shut up!"
The two arrived in front of Mika and the others. Krul still hadn't asked the question, so Luke had to give up.
Mika stepped forward to greet them.
"Good morning, Lord Krul, Cute King Luke!"
The silence was deafening.
"What's wrong?"
Mika sensed the atmosphere was off.
"Hahaha!"
Krul had no reason to fear Luke. Unable to hold back her laughter, she didn't try.
Hiiragi Shinya's lips also curled up slightly. As a former soldier, holding back laughter was easy for him; it just depended on whether he wanted to.
Only Lacus and René had cold sweat on their foreheads.
Oh no! Mika, you called him that to his face? That's for private use!
Luke was stunned by Mika's 'Cute King' address. Ever since he disciplined some guys last time, he hadn't heard anyone call him Cute King.
He never expected to hear it from Mika today.
You didn't need brains to know who taught him.
Coming back to his senses, Luke glanced smilingly at Lacus, who hurriedly looked away in fear.
"It's nothing, Mika. Our squad is all here. Let's go first. We'll take the Helicopter. I'll fly."
"No!"
Mika, Lacus, and René refused in unison.
Their shout drew the attention of every Vampire at the airfield.
