Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Half-Seraph

Hiiragi Kureto lasted three minutes against Luke.

Krul's side was almost finished too. Jujo Mika's legs were broken, Sayuri Hanayori and Yukimi Shigure lay motionless on the ground, leaving only Guren, possessed by Hiiragi Mahiru, struggling to hold on.

Hiiragi Shinya's gunshots didn't ring out again; he likely knew his teammates were defeated and staying far away wouldn't help.

Besides, byakkomaru was a rifle, not a specialized sniper rifle; some abilities were disadvantageous to use from a distance.

Hiiragi Kureto was a Lieutenant General for a reason; Luke felt his skills were significantly better than Guren's, but Hiiragi Kureto controlled his desires too well, which prevented him from unleashing the full power of Thunder Demon.

But there was one thing inferior to Guren—the feel.

Slapping Hiiragi Kureto didn't provide as much emotional value as slapping Guren, and perhaps because he rarely smiled, his face felt hard as a rock when slapped.

Hiiragi Kureto's subordinates were clearly not as strong as Guren's teammates; for instance, Kureto Hiiragi tried to step forward to help Hiiragi Kureto, but was kicked unconscious by Luke.

The others were like the Hulu Brothers saving their grandpa, falling one by one; they were likely unfamiliar with each other, as their moves were hesitant and easily dealt with by Luke.

Luke lifted Hiiragi Kureto with one hand. "You're quite tall, buddy; I almost let your feet touch the ground."

"Lieutenant General, aren't you going to take the cursed gear booster drug?"

Hiiragi Kureto didn't answer, his face full of humiliation. He hadn't expected Luke to be so strong; even with Hiiragi Shinya's two shots as a distraction, he had lost without any suspense.

Luke wasn't annoyed; he let out a light chuckle and picked up a cursed gear booster drug from the ground that one of Hiiragi Kureto's subordinates hadn't had time to take.

Hiiragi Kureto frowned. What did this guy want to do?

"You guys seem pretty powerful after taking this. You should be able to fight a bit longer if you take it. Open up, I'll feed you. Ahhh..."

Of course, Hiiragi Kureto wouldn't listen to a Vampire's request.

Luke pressed a pill against Hiiragi Kureto's lips, but Hiiragi Kureto refused to open his mouth.

Luke wasn't polite; he punched Hiiragi Kureto until he was dizzy, then pried his mouth open and stuffed the drug inside.

Hiiragi Kureto's expression was painful at first, then his aura intensified.

But it was all for naught.

Hiiragi Kureto still couldn't break free; Luke's hand still gripped his throat like an iron pincer.

Luke still had a smile on his face.

"Let's have a second one."

After the second pill, some of Hiiragi Kureto's veins became clearly visible.

Hiiragi Kureto struggled violently, but to no avail, as he watched Luke prepare to stuff a third pill into him.

"I'll die!"

There wasn't much fear in Hiiragi Kureto's eyes, but there was some unwillingness; his ambition hadn't been realized yet, how could he stop here!

Just then, Hiiragi Kureto's plot armor seemed to work.

The sound of a metal gate opening rang out. Seeing the situation was bad, the Imperial Demon Army guarding the iron box opened it. Dry ice sublimated and liquefied the surrounding water vapor, creating a white mist that obscured the contents of the box.

The cursed gear present all vibrated slightly, almost imperceptibly.

It was the disgusting aura of an Angel!

A figure with strangely shaped symmetrical wings on its back slowly flew out of the iron box.

The Barrier was already formed, and the Imperial Demon Army placed the figure inside it.

Luke looked closely; it was a man who looked somewhat familiar.

Hiiragi Kureto took advantage of Luke's distraction to break free, moving several steps away in a flash.

Luke didn't even glance at Hiiragi Kureto. Hiiragi Kureto was still useful and had to be kept alive, otherwise he would have been killed long ago.

Guren also retreated, no longer tangling with Krul.

Krul hadn't been fighting seriously at all; she hadn't even used the first-class armament she had with her.

"Hey, Princess Krul, a Seraph. No, probably a half-finished product. How about it? Want to take on the challenge?"

Luke examined the Seraph; the more he looked, the more familiar it became. It was only when his gaze shifted to the antelope-like horns on its head that he realized who it was.

"Holy crap! Hiiragi Seishiro! That old geezer Hiiragi Tenri is so ruthless, he didn't even spare his own son."

Krul looked with disgust at the fallen members of the Guren Squad.

"They're useless."

She turned and walked to Luke's side, also looking at the Seraph.

Luke shared his opinion.

"So ugly."

Krul nodded perfunctorily, while thinking: Is this the Seraph Experiment that can find my brother? Surely my brother won't turn into something like this?

Hiiragi Kureto now seemed to have the upper hand and said.

"If we can take down two Vampires as powerful as you, today will have been worth it!"

Luke pointed at the Seraph, which was roaring wildly and flying toward Hiiragi Kureto.

"He's coming this way, you know. He doesn't seem very obedient. And your subordinates and Guren's squad are still inside the Barrier."

Hiiragi Kureto sneered but didn't answer. He calmly picked up Kureto Hiiragi and walked out of the Barrier with ease.

Hiiragi Seishiro slammed into the Barrier; it rippled slightly but showed no sign of collapsing.

This Barrier only allowed humans to enter and exit!

Luke looked toward Guren again.

Hiiragi Shinya had already rejoined the squad and was carrying his comrades out of the Barrier, but Guren didn't leave.

Hiiragi Shinya shouted to Guren in confusion.

"Get out of there, Guren! That monster is coming!"

Hiiragi Mahiru was no longer possessing him. Guren felt the Barrier blocking him and sighed.

"I'll continue to keep them occupied."

After saying that, he jumped to dodge several spears that Hiiragi Seishiro had produced from nowhere, then began running along the edge of the Barrier.

His broken bones had already healed. Guren smiled bitterly to himself.

"Am I... no longer human?"

Seeing that the people here had also fled the Barrier, Hiiragi Seishiro turned his attention to Hiiragi Kureto's remaining unconscious subordinates.

Hiiragi Kureto frowned; he really had no chance to save those subordinates and could only give them up.

Then, Hiiragi Seishiro brutally summoned spears, pinning the men like voodoo dolls.

Luke frowned at the brutal scene, which reminded him of unpleasant images from EVA.

Having dealt with the humans in the area who could attack him, Hiiragi Seishiro turned his gaze toward Guren, Luke, and Krul.

Roar!

With a roar, Hiiragi Seishiro charged at Luke and Krul.

Krul looked like she wanted to go up and fight, but Luke grabbed her.

"What are you doing now?"

Luke pointed at Guren at the edge of the Barrier and smiled mischievously.

"Let's go say hello."

Krul understood what Luke meant: he wanted to lead the Seraph to Guren, whose condition wasn't great.

How wicked, but Krul nodded without a second thought.

Luke and Krul ran toward Guren.

Seeing Luke, who had taken asuramaru, coming over with Krul, Guren realized their intention and his mouth twitched.

"This bastard kid is still this wicked even after becoming a Vampire!"
