Chapter 166 - Buried Forever Underground

According to the original plan, Boyang had wanted to destroy the spatial rift or use the Taisui Compass to repair it, thereby cutting off the flow of monsters. But he had failed. Seeing more and more monsters pouring from the rift, watching Millelith soldier after Millelith soldier fall to the creatures, and seeing the yaksha brother drenched in blood, Boyang knew he had only one option left—the one he least wanted to use.

He would seal this underground space together with the rift, burying them both deep beneath the earth. Let time heal the broken fabric of space. Perhaps in a hundred or a thousand years, the rift would close on its own. In a sense, it was a good solution.

But sealing the rift together with the underground space was an exceedingly difficult task. The power required, the time needed—neither Boyang nor Rongzhao could estimate. They had never done anything like it before. Based on the Taisui Compass's abilities, it seemed feasible. It was also a cruel method.

Once the sealing began, no monster could be allowed to interfere with Boyang and Rongzhao's work. Otherwise, all their efforts would be wasted.

That meant that while the sealing was underway, the Millelith soldiers and the nameless yaksha would have to hold the rift, preventing any monster from escaping.

And when the sealing was complete, those same soldiers and the yaksha, who had stood before the rift holding back the tide, would also be sealed within that underground space. Forever. They would never return to the surface.

That was why Boyang and Rongzhao had been so reluctant to resort to this cruel method.

But as they watched the monsters emerging from the rift grow stronger and stronger, they knew that if they did not act now, the entire Chasm—maybe all of Liyue—would be buried with them.

So Boyang and Rongzhao explained this final option to the Millelith commander and the yaksha.

When the Millelith heard it, they fell silent.

In battle, they had been fearless, charging forward without hesitation. They did so because they wanted to protect their nation, to protect their families, and to return home after victory, to see their loved ones and tell them what they had endured.

But now, knowing that they might truly have to remain underground forever, never to see the sun or their families again, their spirits dimmed.

Then, just as they were hesitating, a deep voice spoke beside them.

"You mean that to prevent monsters from interfering with the sealing, someone must hold the rift and keep the monsters from escaping? Then leave that task to me. All of you, go. I alone am enough."

Hearing this, every Millelith soldier's heart shuddered. They were shocked, and they were ashamed. When they had been paralyzed by sorrow and despair, this one had stepped forward without a moment's hesitation.

They turned to look at the tall, four‑armed nameless yaksha, his body drenched in blood. Before, they had felt a kind of fear when they looked at him—a deep, primal fear. But now, that fearsome, four‑armed yaksha stood like a giant, holding up the collapsing pillars of their faith.

One Millelith officer shouted, "I will stay too! I will fight alongside Brother Yaksha!"

Another officer followed. "And me!"

One after another, Millelith officers and soldiers stepped forward, standing beside Bosacius.

"Brother Yaksha is strong, but more and more monsters are pouring from the rift, and they're growing stronger. Even he might not be able to hold them all by himself."

"I will live or die with Brother Yaksha!"

"Brothers who make it out alive, take a message to my family."

"Count me in!"

"I'll stay too."

Once the first officer stepped forward, every Millelith soldier stepped forward, standing beside the nameless yaksha.

In that moment, they truly accepted him. Though he was not of the Millelith, he was more than a brother to them—a comrade-in-arms.

Seeing this, Boyang and Rongzhao were deeply moved and shaken. But if every Millelith stayed behind, who would deal with the scattered monsters that might still be loose outside? Some had to go back.

So Boyang said, "Commander, we need not only people to hold the rift but also guards to protect us while we perform the sealing. I would like you to lead some of the Millelith in assisting us."

The commander did not want to leave. He wanted to fight alongside his men. But to complete the sealing and protect Liyue, he gritted his teeth and accepted.

Just as Boyang, Rongzhao, and the commander, with a hundred Millelith soldiers, were about to leave to perform the sealing from a distance, Bosacius turned and walked to the commander. He held out the Spear of Comradeship.

Surprised, the commander asked, "Brother Yaksha, what is this? Is the weapon not to your liking?"

Bosacius said slowly, "No, I was very satisfied with it. But such a fine weapon should not be buried underground with me. Take it out. And if you ever have the chance, give my regards to a yaksha named Menogias."

He had not yet fully recovered his memories. He remembered that one of his yaksha companions was named Menogias, but he did not know that Menogias had already perished, fighting alongside Bonanus.

Hearing that name, the commander's heart jolted. He had never met the five famous foremost yakshas, but he had heard their names many times: Bosacius, Bonanus, Menogias, Indarias, and Alatus. Every one of them was a hero who had defended Liyue.

He had not expected this nameless yaksha to know Menogias. Could he himself be one of them?
