Peter's POV
The only person I could think of who would pull something this low was Maya.
After Ruby told us about their conversation, it all made sense. Maya always walked around with this ridiculous confidence, like she was untouchable and no one would ever dare call her out.
Lee sat across from us, looking surprisingly calm, almost as if he had expected this to happen.
Ruby, on the other hand, looked ready to start a war.
"She's a piece of shit," she hissed, pacing back and forth. "I only warned her to stay away from Lee. I never told her to spread disgusting rumors."
I stared at her in disbelief.
Ruby was usually the quiet one—the cheerful girl who laughed at everything and avoided drama. But right now, her eyes were blazing with anger, and every step she took made the room feel smaller.
She looked absolutely terrifying.
"Peter, why are you smiling?" she snapped, pointing a finger at me. "Do you think this is funny? A girl who betrays her best friend over a man doesn't deserve to be called a friend!"
The last sentence echoed through the room.
Silence followed.
I turned to Lee.
"Lee, why the hell are you so quiet? Your reputation is on the line because of that idiot."
Instead of looking worried, the corner of his lips lifted into a grin.
I frowned.
"Why are you smiling?"
He rested his chin on his hand, completely ignoring the tension around us.
"Do you think Lana is reacting the same way Ruby is?" he asked casually.
Ruby and I exchanged confused looks.
"If she is..." his smile widened, "...does that mean she's actually worried about me?"
A second later, he burst into laughter.
Not a normal laugh.
The kind of laugh that made you question someone's mental stability.
I rubbed my face and sighed.
Something was seriously wrong with my friends.
Ruby blinked.
"Is he okay?"
"I honestly don't know," I muttered. "Every time Lana's name comes up, he turns into a completely different person."
"I thought her name was Lumi," Ruby said.
I rolled my eyes.
"Her name is Lana. He's the only weirdo who calls her Lumi. I guess it's some cheesy pet name."
Ruby shook her head while Lee continued grinning like he had won the lottery.
I dragged a hand through my hair.
"Can you be serious for once?"
"Fine, fine." He raised both hands in surrender before looking at Ruby. "Did you tell your fiancé what's happening?"
Ruby folded her arms and pouted.
"He doesn't know. What's the point? He's just going to laugh at me."
Lee chuckled softly.
"He doesn't laugh because you're funny."
Ruby raised an eyebrow.
"He laughs because he thinks you're cute."
For the first time since this conversation started, Ruby's expression softened, and a faint blush crept onto her cheeks.
I sighed.
Can everyone stop flirting for one minute?
"So," I interrupted, "what are we doing about Maya?"
Ruby opened her mouth.
"Isn't she your ex—"
She stopped immediately after meeting my glare.
The room went quiet.
Even Lee's smile faded for a second.
Finally, he stood up and shoved his hands into his pockets.
"Let's meet Mary first," he said. "Then we'll figure out what to do."
Ruby nodded.
I nodded too.
Because if Maya really was behind those rumors...
She had no idea what kind of storm she had just started.
