Vael's POV
Sunlight streams through the gaps in the curtains, sharp and bright, cutting across the floorboards. I blink, the warmth of the morning already settling on the covers.
The smell of frying bacon and toasted bread drifts up from the kitchen, rich and savory, making my stomach tighten with hunger. I sit up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, and look over at Lirien. He is still breathing deeply, his chest rising and falling under the thin sheet, looking pale but peaceful.
We make our way downstairs a few minutes later. The kitchen is bustling with the quiet energy of the morning. Mom stands by the stove, flipping eggs.
"Good morning Mom", I said
She turns, a soft smile on her face,
Good morning, Did you guys sleep well.
"Yes we did,Mom".
She nods and points to the table. It's already set, plates piled high with scrambled eggs, crispy strips of bacon, and slices of buttered toast.
