The drive back to our place is quiet, the hum of the transport lulling against the evening traffic. I keep glancing at Theo in the passenger seat, his profile illuminated by the passing streetlamps. His hands are folded in his lap, his knee bouncing just slightly,a nervous tic I've come to recognize.
"I talked to him," Theo says suddenly, breaking the silence. He turns his head to look at me, his eyes earnest. "I talked to Lirien before we left. I told him he needs to speak to Vael. Really speak to him."
I reach over, resting my hand on his thigh, giving it a squeeze. "That's good, Theo. He needs to get it out."
"I hope he listens," Theo sighs, leaning his head back against the rest. "Vael is half-crazy with worry, even if he tries to hide it behind that captain's stoicism."
