After a month going to school, it was finally time for Mira's awakening birthday.
Mira this to be a special day.
Her birthdays had always been simple cake, a few laughs, maybe a gift or two. But as she stepped into the dimly lit room, her friends shouted in unison, voices bouncing off the walls.
"Happy Awakening Day"
Warm light flooded the space as lanterns flickered to life. Streamers hung crookedly, clearly put up in a rush, and a lopsided cake sat on the table. Mira laughed, covering her mouth.
"You guys… this is amazing."
Kage leaned casually against the wall, arms crossed, but there was a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Took you long enough," he said. "We were about to eat the cake without you."
"You wouldn't dare," Mira shot back, stepping closer.
"Oh, I absolutely would," Connor of their friends chimed in, already holding a fork and Knife.
Laughter filled the room. For a moment, everything felt normal and safe. Mira closed her eyes as they began singing, letting the sound wrap around her like a blanket.
When she opened them again.
"Mira?" Kage's voice sharpened.
A Magical Light pulse through her body
The pulse of energy burst outward, knocking chairs back and sending the cake crashing to the floor.
Connor Yell "no not the Cake"
The Light coiled around Mira, rising like a protective storm. Her heart pounded as the power surged, wild and uncontrollable.
"Kage!" she gasped with excitement
"I have been Blessed by one of the gods"
"Gaia"
"That is good news said Sofie."
"That means training just became hard for them" said Sue with a sly smile.
Mira put on her blood watch to read her new abilities and blessing of Gaia.
