Several heads snapped toward us the moment that name left her lips.
"There are others," Genevieve pressed on, her voice gaining strength. "So many people helping him."
The names started flowing then.
The first few made my chest constrict because I knew them instantly. Men I had met in private rooms. People who had offered information or influence when I needed it most.
But her list kept growing.
More names poured out.
Some belonged to strangers I had never encountered.
Others sounded too convenient to be real.
It took seconds for the truth to hit me.
Kaelen had orchestrated this perfectly.
He had woven lies with facts so skillfully that any defense I mounted would risk exposing the genuine pieces. Deny everything and someone might eventually discover what was actually true. Try to argue specifics and I might accidentally confirm something far worse.
