Chapter 35 - her room

Night had passed.

Quietly.

Softly.

Like a secret the walls chose to keep.

Her room…

Felt different now.

Warmer.

Closer.

Like it held something new between them.

Morning light slipped through the curtains.

Falling gently across the bed.

Across them.

Jay stirred first.

Slowly opening her eyes.

Calm.

Peaceful.

She turned slightly.

And there he was.

Beside her.

Close.

Real.

Not a dream.

Her lips curved into a soft smile.

No rush.

No panic.

Just… quiet happiness.

But Keifer—

He woke up differently.

His eyes opened.

And reality hit instantly.

Where he was.

What had happened.

And most importantly…

Whose room this was.

He sat up suddenly.

Running a hand through his hair.

"…oh god."

Jay looked at him.

Confused.

"What?"

Keifer stood up.

Pacing slightly.

"This… this wasn't supposed to—"

He stopped.

Frustrated with himself.

Jay sat up slowly.

Watching him.

"What's wrong?"

Keifer looked at her.

Still processing.

"This is your room."

Jay blinked.

"…yes?"

Keifer exhaled.

"That's the point."

He looked around.

Her space.

Her world.

"And I…"

He stopped again.

Clearly embarrassed now.

"I should've…"

"Waited."

Jay tilted her head slightly.

"Waited for what?"

Keifer looked at her.

"For the right moment."

A pause.

Then quieter…

"For the right place."

Jay watched him carefully.

Not upset.

Not uncomfortable.

Just… understanding.

She got off the bed.

Walked toward him.

Slowly.

Calmly.

"Keifer."

He looked at her.

Still a little uneasy.

"This wasn't wrong."

Her voice soft.

Certain.

Keifer frowned slightly.

"But—"

Jay shook her head.

"No."

She stepped closer.

Right in front of him.

"It wasn't planned."

"But it wasn't forced either."

Silence.

He listened.

She continued gently.

"It happened because we wanted it."

A pause.

"Both of us."

Keifer's expression softened.

Just a little.

Jay added quietly…

"And I don't regret it."

That line…

Hit him.

Deep.

He looked at her.

Really looked.

She wasn't unsure.

She wasn't confused.

She was calm.

Certain.

Happy.

Keifer let out a slow breath.

His tension easing.

"You're not… uncomfortable?"

Jay smiled faintly.

"Not even a little."

A small silence.

Then she teased softly—

"You're the only one overthinking."

Keifer huffed a small laugh.

"Maybe."

Jay stepped even closer.

Close enough to hold him.

But didn't.

Just stood there.

"I liked it."

Simple.

Honest.

Keifer froze for a second.

Then looked away slightly.

Embarrassed again.

Jay smiled.

Seeing it.

"Now you're shy?"

Keifer shook his head.

"Not shy."

A pause.

Then quietly…

"Just… didn't want your first to be like this."

Jay's expression softened deeply.

She reached out.

Held his hand.

Gently.

"It was perfect."

He looked at her.

Surprised.

Jay smiled.

Soft.

Warm.

"Because it was with you."

Silence.

Everything stilled.

That one sentence…

Said everything.

Keifer's hesitation disappeared.

Completely.

He held her hand back.

Firm.

Certain.

And just like that…

The awkwardness faded.

The embarrassment softened.

Leaving behind something deeper.

Something stronger.

Because it wasn't about the place.

It wasn't about the timing.

It was about them.

And for them…

That moment was exactly where it was meant to be.
