Weeks passed after the battle. I was on guard duty with my bunkmates. Konoha took the win, but it didn't feel like one for me.
I was called into the commander's tent.
It was quieter than usual.
Jiraiya sat behind the large war table, one leg hanging lazily off the side as he flipped through a thick red-covered book. The pages were worn.
Names and faces stared up from the paper.
The Bingo Book.
Jiraiya scratched his cheek as he turned another page.
"Man."
He muttered quietly.
"Kid really made a mess out there."
The tent flap opened.
A shinobi stepped inside and bowed slightly.
"Jiraiya-sama, Shinji Uchiha has arrived."
"Send him in."
A moment later the flap opened again.
I stepped inside.
My arm was wrapped in fresh bandages and my shoulder was still stiff from the injury Karasu had left behind. The medics had forced me to rest for two days before allowing me back on my feet.
Jiraiya looked up from the book.
"Hey."
He waved me forward casually.
"Come take a look at something."
I walked toward the table.
"What is it?"
Instead of answering, Jiraiya turned the book around and slid it across the table toward me.
"Congratulations."
I looked down.
And froze.
A familiar symbol sat at the top of the page.
The spiral emblem used by shinobi villages.
Beneath it was a photograph.
Mine.
Taken sometime after we arrived at the border camp.
Below the picture was text written in clean, precise lettering.

For a moment I just stared at the page. Jiraiya leaned back against the table behind him.
"Sunagakure updated their Bingo Book this morning."
He scratched his chin. "You're officially a wanted shinobi now."
I looked back up at him.
"…I'm eleven."
"Yeah."
He shrugged.
"They're not thrilled about what you did to their forces."
He tapped the page.
"Low A-rank threat."
"That's not normal for someone your age."
I looked down at the paper again.
A bounty.
A classification.
My name listed like some criminal. Jiraiya watched my reaction carefully.
"You understand what this means?"
"That they'll try to kill me."
"Correct."
He grinned slightly.
"Which… to be fair… they were already doing."
I closed the book.
"…You called me here just to show me this?"
"Partly."
Jiraiya reached over and flipped a few pages deeper into the book. "Also wanted to show you something else."
He turned the book again and pushed it back toward me.
"Recognize this one?"
I looked down.
Another page.
Another photograph.
But this one I knew immediately.

"It's pretty rare to see two kids from the same squad end up in the Bingo Book this early." Jiraiya leaned forward slightly.
"You made a name for yourself in that battle."
He tapped the closed Bingo Book.
"Now the enemy knows it."
"You will be sent back to Konoha for a while The Hokage thinks and rightfully so, that you deserve a break."
"You've been through a lot Shinji go rest for now. We will call you back when needed."
