''Core Number 001: The Resida''
The picture was different from what he remembered.
Not badly drawn, the lines were precise, the shading meticulous, the proportions perfect. But the creature in the image did not look human. Not even close.
Kaelen had seen the Resida in the dungeon. She had worn the shape of a child, small, thin, with braided hair and a nightgown and eyes that had once been yellow, she war the face of his brother. But here, in the ledger, the child was gone.
What remained was a 'thing'.
Its body was long and segmented, like a centipede carved from pale, translucent flesh. Ribs showed through the skin too many ribs, arranged in spirals instead of rows. Its head was a bulbous mass of flesh with no features except a mouth: a circular hole ringed with teeth that pointed inward, designed to let things in and never let them out.
But the worst part was the arms.
