Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7: The Afternoon Game

The villa buzzed with excitement the next afternoon. The girls had gathered in the lounge, where the staff had set up a bright, open space with colorful mats and a scoreboard projected on the wall.

A neutral, ethereal voice echoed through the villa again:

"Contestants, today's activity will test your agility, teamwork, and strategy. Winners will receive the opportunity to select two contestants for a private date. Compete fairly. No ties will be allowed."

The girls murmured among themselves, curious and eager.

The Game: "Balance & Grab"

The rules were simple but chaotic:

Two contestants faced off at a time on a narrow balance beam, about 1 meter above soft mats.

Each contestant had to reach and grab three colored balls from the other side without falling off.

If a player fell, the opponent scored a point.

Winners advanced to the next round until the final two remained.

The game combined balance, strategy, and light playful aggression—perfect for showing personalities.

The Matchups Begin

Round 1:

Yerin vs. Chaewon – Both were careful at first, Yerin cautious, Chaewon timid. But Yerin's calm focus won her the round as Chaewon nearly slipped.

Sohee vs. Haerin – Sohee's confidence showed. She moved with precision, barely looking at Haerin, and grabbed the balls effortlessly.

Jiwon vs. Areum – Both loud and energetic, shouting and laughing, trying to distract each other. Jiwon's clever strategy of feigning a lunge worked, and Areum slipped.

Dahye vs. Jiyeon – Calm and calculating, Dahye balanced easily, moving methodically. Jiyeon struggled slightly to keep pace. Dahye won narrowly.

Minji vs. Sora – Minji's athleticism gave her the edge; Sora was careful but slower. Minji advanced.

Haeun vs. Yejin – Haeun teased constantly, but Yejin's steady movements gave her the win. Haeun nearly tumbled but managed to hang on, losing by a fraction.

Quarterfinals

Yerin vs. Dahye – Tension filled the air as the two girls faced off. Both were cautious, but Dahye's calculated movements edged out Yerin.

Sohee vs. Minji – Sohee's elegance and balance helped her glide past Minji, advancing smoothly.

Jiwon vs. Yejin – Jiwon's energy and playful distractions helped her win easily.

Remaining girls competed but didn't make it past this round.

Semifinals

Sohee vs. Dahye – Dahye remained calm but Sohee's quick reflexes and confidence helped her take the win. Dahye nodded in acknowledgment, respectful but competitive.

Jiwon vs. Yerin – Jiwon's chaotic energy worked in her favor, winning over a hesitant Yerin.

The Final Showdown

The final two contestants were revealed: Sohee and Jiwon. The other girls clapped and cheered.

The prize? The power to pick two contestants for a private date.

Sohee stepped forward first. Her top two picks?

Ahn Yerin – her #2 ranking on Sohee's list.

Bae Dahye – her #1 strategic pick, aware of Dahye's calm, mysterious nature.

Jiwon, laughing and bouncing, picked two other contestants, preferring lively personalities she could engage with—she didn't pick Yerin or Dahye.

Yerin watched quietly, noting the selections, her stomach fluttering slightly at being chosen by Sohee—but she hid it completely, keeping her composure. Dahye sat calm as always, analyzing the dynamics without revealing much, though she noted Sohee's choice carefully for future observation.

The other contestants whispered among themselves, curious, jealous, or excited at how the first selections could influence alliances and interactions.

The ethereal voice rang out once more:

"Congratulations to the winners. Your choices will impact upcoming activities. Contestants, prepare for tomorrow's schedule."

The afternoon ended with laughter, playful teasing, and subtle tension, leaving everyone wondering how the date selections would affect the villa dynamics.
