Chapter 101 - The Fear Inside Kael

The World Gate continued opening above them.

Slowly.

Relentlessly.

The silver beam forming at its center expanded wider across the shattered sky, illuminating the battlefield in cold light while reality disappeared around its edges piece by piece.

The end of the world no longer felt distant.

It felt close enough to touch.

Yet Kael barely looked at the gate now.

His thoughts remained trapped inside Vireon's words.

One Eclipse lost someone important.

And he destroyed half the world trying to bring her back.

The battlefield around him distorted unevenly.

Not from attack.

Emotion.

Elara noticed immediately.

The unstable space around Kael had become more reactive than before, responding directly to his emotional state now instead of controlled calculations alone.

Which meant one terrifying thing:

Vireon had been right.

Kael's Eclipse evolution was accelerating.

The silver figure raised its hand again.

"FINAL PURGE COUNTDOWN INITIATED."

The beam inside the World Gate intensified instantly.

Riven stared upward nervously.

"…Can the universe stop announcing terrifying things like that?"

No one answered.

Because even the Divine forces looked uneasy now.

The Inferno Monarch's cursed flames had weakened noticeably while black fractures spread farther across his immortal form. The curse consuming the Divines continued worsening every second the World Gate remained active.

The system was destroying everything equally now.

Kael finally spoke again.

Quietly.

"If the system fears Eclipse because of love…"

His gaze lowered slightly.

"…then maybe it's right."

Elara immediately looked toward him.

"No."

"You heard the story."

"I heard fear," she answered firmly. "Not truth."

Kael's expression remained unreadable.

But inside—

something was breaking apart.

Because for the first time, he could imagine it.

If Elara disappeared…

Would he stop?

The silence that followed frightened him more than any battlefield ever had.

Vireon watched him carefully.

And for the first time since arriving—

the ancient calm in his eyes carried something close to regret.

"You finally understand the curse of Eclipse."

Kael looked toward him sharply.

"You call emotions a curse too?"

"No," Vireon answered quietly.

"I call attachment without limits a curse."

The battlefield trembled again.

The World Gate expanded wider.

More reality vanished around its edges.

Riven rubbed his forehead tiredly.

"…This family seriously has the worst emotional issues in existence."

Despite everything, Elara almost smiled briefly.

But it disappeared when she looked back at Kael.

Because he still looked lost inside his own thoughts.

So she stepped closer again.

Not carefully.

Naturally.

The moment her hand touched his—

the unstable distortions around him calmed slightly.

The battlefield itself reacted.

The silver figure immediately spoke:

"EMOTIONAL STABILIZATION DETECTED."

"ANOMALY SYNCHRONIZATION RECOVERING."

Kael looked down at their joined hands silently.

And something inside him hurt unexpectedly.

Because she was the only thing that quieted the chaos inside him now.

Which meant the system's fear was becoming harder to deny.

Elara seemed to understand what he was thinking.

So before he could pull away—

she spoke softly.

"You're afraid of loving someone."

Kael stayed silent.

"…Because you think one day you'll destroy everything trying to protect them."

The truth hit perfectly.

Kael looked away immediately.

And that answer alone confirmed everything.

Elara's chest tightened painfully.

Not because he denied loving her.

Because he looked terrified of it.

The World Gate suddenly pulsed violently.

A massive wave of silver authority spread downward across the battlefield.

The system was preparing the final purge.

Vireon's expression darkened slightly.

"It's speeding up."

The silver figure spoke:

"REALITY PURGE COMMENCING IN THREE PHASES."

Riven blinked slowly.

"…There are phases now?"

The first wave descended instantly.

Silver light swept across the battlefield, erasing fractured terrain, broken structures, even sections of distant mountains into absolute emptiness.

The world screamed.

Kael immediately expanded the domain again.

Elara synchronized beside him instantly.

Vireon moved last.

And for the first time—

Kael saw the full extent of Vireon's power.

Black Eclipse distortion erupted across the battlefield like living night itself. The silver purge wave collided against it violently—

then stopped.

Not erased.

Contained.

Reality itself bent around Vireon unnaturally as though existence no longer knew how to process him correctly.

The silver figure reacted sharply.

"FORBIDDEN EXISTENCE INTERFERENCE DETECTED."

Vireon looked upward calmly.

Then smiled faintly.

"You built your system from fear."

The black distortion expanded farther.

"And fear always creates fragile worlds."

The battlefield shook violently.

The World Gate cracked slightly again.

But Kael wasn't watching the gate anymore.

He was watching Vireon.

Watching the black fractures spreading farther across his father's body every time he used that power.

And suddenly—

Kael understood the real reason Vireon stayed away from the world.

Not because people feared him.

Because his existence itself was slowly collapsing reality around him.

Elara noticed Kael realizing it.

And fear reached her immediately.

Because if Kael continued evolving—

one day he might become the same.
