Lucas figures out Sophie's plan approximately three days after the Rio incident.
I know this because he arrives at the penthouse one morning with a very specific expression on his face. It's the expression he wears when he has gathered sufficient data and is prepared to act on it. His ears are their normal color, which means he's calm. Too calm.
"I need to go to Marlene's Corner this morning," he says, setting down my coffee with his usual precision. Oat milk latte with an extra shot and light foam. Perfect.
"Why?"
"I have something to discuss with Miss Chen."
I feel a chill run down my spine. Lucas only calls Sophie "Miss Chen" when he's either deeply annoyed or preparing for a formal confrontation. Sometimes both.
"What did she do?"
