Chapter 2 - Homecoming

 August 10, 2022

Klaus has completed the mission assigned to him.

For him, it is now time to return home.

The moment the plane lands, a black jeep is there to meet him.

Lucy[1] is waiting.

They exchange their signature greeting. Klaus gets into the car.

He picks up the file labeled "Top Secret" from the seat and begins to read.

Lucy can't hold it in any longer and asks:

L: Klaus, who exactly is this woman to you? I know who she is in the field, but what does she mean to you? A target? A friend? An enemy?

K: I assume you read the file.

L: As you know, I read every file that comes to you first—to verify the accuracy of the information.

K: I know, Luce.

L: So? Who is she?

K: She's one of my older sisters.

L: WHAT? I don't understand. How?

K: Don't be so surprised, Luce. There are still things about me even you don't know. Believe me, sometimes I realize there are things I don't even know about myself.

L: Then let me repeat my question. A target? A friend? An enemy?

K: We'll see, Lucy. We'll see. For now… none of them.

L: She became a legend in that organization. Didn't you know?

K: I had more important things to deal with, Luce. Toppling governments, carrying out and preventing assassinations…

L: I'm just asking, boss.

K: Don't call me that anymore. You know it's just the two of us now.

L: Yeah, I know. Is there a situation that would require us to regroup the team?

K: Not for now. But something inside me says there will be.

L: That voice in your head again? You know I love you, but I really don't like that voice.

K: Me neither, Luce. Every time I feel like this, something goes wrong. I'm aware of it.

K: ?[3], She knows about our future, doesn't she?

L: I didn't tell her… but she probably already knows.

L: Sometimes I think she's a freak. Like she has nothing better to do than follow you around.

K: Don't say that. Just imagine how hard things would be without her.

L: You mean everyone else besides you? People like us?

K: Believe me, Luce… even a man they call "Wraith" sometimes needs help.

L: (laughs) Don't mess with me, Klaus. I'm one of the people who knows what you're capable of—DON'T FORGET THAT!

K: Are you sure?

L: What's that supposed to mean?

K: (laughs) Nothing, Luce. Just saying.

K: Let's see what kind of disasters our return will bring.
