Madam Shen was on edge, trying to figure out how to placate Mr. Shen and stop him from dwelling on the past.
He had never brought up those matters before, truly turning a blind eye to them.
Now that he had suddenly mentioned them, Madam Shen was afraid he would rake up old grievances and cause fresh trouble.
'Even the heavens are on my side,' she thought. A letter had just arrived!
Seeing her husband's face darken, Madam Shen grew intensely curious and asked cautiously, "Did something happen?"
"That bastard!"
Mr. Shen slammed the letter down on the table. "And to think I thought he'd matured! I thought he came back to mend our family's relationship, to support Ache in the future so they could elevate the Shen family to new heights. I never imagined he could be so petty. He really did come back just to make trouble!"
Madam Shen froze for a moment, then hurried to Mr. Shen's side. "Could there be a misunderstanding?"
"A misunderstanding?"
