Chapter 20 Part I
The morning of our last day in Boston started quietly.
Too quietly, almost.
I blinked awake to pale sunlight slipping through the curtains, thin, silvery strips cutting across the carpet. For a moment, I forgot where I was. The unfamiliar ceiling, the faint humming of the hotel AC, it all felt like walking inside a strange dream.
Then the smell of William's cologne drifted faintly from somewhere nearby. The warm, clean and sharp fragrance that I had grown strangely accustomed to.
Right.
Boston.
Shared suite.
I sat up, pushing the blankets away, listening for any sign that he was awake as well. But I couldn't hear anything. He was probably still asleep.
I stretched, slipped my feet into my slippers and stood to my feet. I proceeded to change into my bathrobe and grabbing my cute basket of toiletries and skincare before heading off to the bathroom.
I froze in my spot the minute I swung the bathroom door open.
