Chapter 7 - The Second Game (Part 1)

Mu Anqi quickly stood up, not wanting to try and see what would happen if she deliberately stayed. She glanced at Ghost, still sitting in his seat, then at the empty seats, feeling a surreal, disorienting sense of unease. The escape game, Taiyin Circus … was it really over?

"Waaah... Thank you so much! If it weren't for you, I would definitely be dead! My ability isn't very useful—I... I heard that you can team up and trade in Nirvana. I owe you a life. You... tell me your trade serial number, and I'll transfer 50 points to you..." The man caught up, his eyes red, looking rather flustered. "The trade serial number is unique, but no one can find your specific information! I... I don't have many points myself, and I want to be resurrected, so... so I can only give you 50..."

Mu Anqi didn't understand anything the burly man was saying. She thought that perhaps only becoming a formal player would reveal this. However… "No need," she said, "I was just playing it safe, not specifically trying to save you. Don't worry about it." She didn't even know what a transaction serial number was, so how could she tell anyone? After her cold refusal, Mu Anqi quickly followed the guide. She noticed that the burly man hadn't given his name; perhaps this was one of the key factors for survival?

Never mind, whatever it is, she'll find out everything once she becomes a full-fledged player.

The moment Mu Anqi stepped out of Taiyin Circus with the guide, she felt herself enter a dark abyss, tinged with a faint red. As she tried to see more clearly, she took another step forward, and in a moment of disorientation, she found herself back in the original Nirvana Space.

[Completed the game Taiyin Circus. Rating in progress—]

[Level Rating B (The player has received an invitation and curiosity from a powerful Ghost, resulting in an overall rating increase)]

[Congratulations on completing the first game! You have now become a full player! ~You have received 1 free revive chance!]

[23:59:59 until the next game starts]

After a series of notification sounds, Mu Anqi found that the void space he was in was gradually changing and had turned into a 60-square-meter one-bedroom apartment! The empty house had no decorations, only a bed placed in the corner and a small bathroom.

Nirvana Paradise? This is her home in this Nirvana Space? Well, looking at this empty house, it's clear that if you want to decorate and furnish it, you'll have to spend points.

As for the various templates… they're basically just friend templates, though Mu Anqi's friend list is empty. There's also a character template, which simply displays her information, except it includes a transaction serial number. "64805368," Mu Anqi silently memorized this familiar string, opened the transaction template, and a small box appeared asking her to enter the other party's serial number to initiate a transaction.

Mu Anqi opened the ability template again and, sure enough, saw " Old Lady Has Money " along with two active skills and two passive skills. However, after this skill, she had an empty skill slot, meaning... she could activate another skill?

[Spend 200 points to acquire a random skill?]

She's a woman with 600 points! Yes!

[Ding! Congratulations on acquiring the active skill Blessing Curse!]

The Blessing Curse involves saying a four-character "blessing" idiom to the target, causing them to immediately perform a random action. Note that the "blessing" cannot be repeated during a single game. (After all, blessings must be given sincerely and cannot be mass-produced.)

Good heavens, good heavens! Mu Anqi was dumbfounded. She thought, the fortune teller was really right. Her great fortune... seems to really be in this Nirvana Space.

This skill seems unremarkable at first glance, but in reality—as long as you use Blessing, the target must immediately stop what they are doing! And there's no limit to the number of uses; this skill is invincible!

The only thing that might trouble her is... she needs to rack her brains for four-character blessing phrases. Ah, this skill isn't very useful when surrounded; after all, if there are too many ghosts surrounding her, even with her quick wit, her brain might not be able to process everything...

Two hundred points, worth it!

After reviewing her various templates, Mu Anqi picked up her tattered backpack and prepared to head to Nirvana Paradise to see what facilities were available. However, as soon as she touched the backpack, a notification popped up.

[Spend 50 points to change the backpack's appearance an unlimited number of times?]

"No." Mu Anqi refused cleanly and decisively, slung his small, worn-out bag over his shoulder, and left the room.

As soon as she pushed open the door, her vision shifted instantly, and she found herself standing on a bustling street. Mu Anqi looked at the buildings of various shapes and sizes, feeling somewhat dazed. She turned around to see what her house looked like, but all she saw was an ordinary teleportation array.

"..." So, it was teleportation? Oh, right, this is a fantasy world, an infinite world, that's normal.

Weapon shop, prop shop...

The weapon shop not only sells melee weapons but also firearms. The item shop offers offensive, defensive, and healing items, and even resurrection stones usable in the game! Of course, the points are exorbitant. Mu Anqi, seeing a mere dagger shamelessly selling for 300 points, almost questioned his existence. Wasn't a normal completion only supposed to earn 200 points? What's going on?!

However, the firearms here are limited to various types of guns and ammunition. Items such as grenades, incendiary bombs, landmines, and explosives are all restricted, with each person allowed only three.

There were no rocket launchers or similar weapons. Let alone atomic bombs or anything like that.

The prop shop not only sells items like talismans, compasses, black dog blood, and crosses, but also items like defensive cloaks. Mu Anqi had assumed that talismans and black dog blood would be categorized under weapons, but it turned out to be a prop shop.

However, she still didn't buy anything. When she came out of the store, she noticed that there were quite a few players setting up stalls. Most of the items on the stalls were props, but these props all had player-made labels below them. Most of them didn't have the same effect as those sold in the store, but they were cheaper.

Crafting... requires a skill book? No, perhaps it's someone else's awakened ability. Mu Anqi pondered, suddenly thinking of the players who died tragically in Circus. Clearly, those players hadn't awakened powerful, self-defense-enabled abilities, otherwise they wouldn't have been killed directly by the game.

After browsing the booths, Mu Anqi suddenly felt that Nirvana Paradise had a bit of a "holographic game" feel to it. However, in this game, if you die and don't have any points left, you're really dead, and you can't revive infinitely for free.

The amusement park wasn't particularly large, nor was it small. Mu Anqi saw various food shops, as well as clothing stores, furniture stores, jewelry stores, and even beauty shops—all of which required points! Perhaps because the items in these shops didn't provide any boosts to the player, they required very few points. Ten points could buy a decent outfit, and five points could buy an all-you-can-eat meal.

Whatever food you want, the food shop can produce it for you, and the taste is absolutely top-notch. Five points allow you to eat as much as you want, however much you order. But there's only one rule: you must finish it all—if more than 30% of the food remains uneaten, you'll have to pay ten times the points, which is 50 points.

Besides these basic facilities, there's the training ground, which is the most popular spot among players.

Firearms skills, driving skills, throwing skills, close combat skills... whatever you want to learn, as long as you spend points, you can have a virtual teacher provide 1-on-1 instruction! Beginner teachers cost 10 points per hour, intermediate teachers cost 50 points per hour, advanced teachers cost 100 points per hour, and top-level teachers cost 300 points per hour.

Even if you want to learn advanced mathematics at Nirvana Space, virtual teachers can meet your needs!

Mu Anqi was somewhat tempted. She was a complete weakling in combat, and her stamina wasn't great either. She didn't have any suitable weapons at the moment, but... she could learn close combat! Although she didn't know how useful it would be in the survival world, at least it would be good exercise.

There are still twenty hours until the next game... I'll spend ten hours sleeping and resting, and then there are ten hours left...

Five hours of close combat, five hours of parkour training!

As for the course level... well, cough. Let's start with the beginner level. After all, she knows absolutely nothing about either of these skills.

The teaching and training for beginner instructors are simple and easy to understand, making it easy for even a complete novice like Mu Anqi to get started. Whether it's close combat or parkour training, it's all done in a virtual space. The combat involves sparring with the beginner instructor, while the parkour training involves following behind the virtual instructor and repeatedly learning the moves taught by the instructor.

Mu Anqi had initially thought ten hours would be incredibly difficult, but it turned out to be quite different. Whether it was parkour training or close combat, whether it was due to learning in a virtual space or simply being too immersed in the activity, she found herself feeling "unsatisfied" for the first time after the time was up! Previously, even playing games for ten hours straight would have left her exhausted.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons for the high price? After training, Mu Anqi spent 5 points to eat his fill, 15 points to buy a simple tracksuit and a pair of sneakers, and 30 points to buy three handmade "roughly crafted smoke bombs" from player stalls. Then he went to the teleportation array to return to his house to sleep.

After nine hours of sleep, perhaps due to exhaustion, or perhaps because her sanity was low after watching the " Taiyin Circus " performance, Mu Anqi slept very soundly. She didn't even wake up during the half-hour prompt period before the game started.

Just three minutes before the game started, the intense and rapid drumbeats exploded in her mind, and a high-pitched suona horn blared up, instantly startling Mu Anqi from her deep sleep, causing her to shudder and roll off the bed.

[Game countdown 00:02:46]

Mu Anqi scrambled to his feet, glanced at the remaining time, quickly put on his workout clothes, and tied his shoelaces. Finally, he opened his backpack, made sure the three smoke grenades were safely inside, and then breathed a sigh of relief.

With only five seconds left on the countdown, Mu Anqi straightened up and casually slung his tattered backpack over one shoulder.

The author has something to say: The second game isn't scary or mind-bending; it mainly sets the scene and explains why Ghost exhibits a series of frightening behaviors.

The main character's skills are unlocked gradually, and points and guansi (views) are accumulated slowly. Even getting red envelopes (cash rewards) to fight others requires some time to build up...

However, it's time to arrange for Ghost to do sit-ups!

The previous chapter was slightly revised; those who missed it can take a look. Also, just because it's not mentioned doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The protagonist's gameplay in the previous level was changed; if other players tied themselves up normally, they could discover the mechanism on the spinning wheel.

If you want a solution, you can find one no matter how you write it... This really doesn't count as a brain-teasing, infinite flow mystery.
