Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Shadow Watching

The silence wasn't empty anymore.

It was watching.

Aarav felt it crawling under his skin.

That same presence—

But now stronger.

Closer.

Focused.

"…It's back," he whispered.

The girl didn't respond.

Because she already knew.

👁️ Something Has Changed

The air around them warped slightly.

Like heat rising from invisible flames.

Aarav's mark began to burn again.

Not pain.

A warning.

"…Why does it feel different this time?" he asked.

The girl's voice came out lower than before.

"…Because you're not invisible anymore."

Aarav frowned. "What?"

Before she could explain—

A sound cut through the silence.

Clap.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Aarav turned instantly.

And saw him.

A man standing under a broken streetlight.

He hadn't been there a second ago.

Tall.

Still.

Wearing dark clothes that seemed to absorb light.

And his eyes—

Sharp enough to feel like a blade.

"…Impressive," the man said calmly.

Aarav's chest tightened.

"You—who are you?!"

The man ignored him.

Instead—

He looked directly at the girl.

"…You finally found one," he said.

Silence.

The girl stepped forward.

Tension radiating from her.

"…You shouldn't be here," she said.

The man smiled faintly.

"And yet… here I am."

⚠️ He Can See Her

Aarav stepped forward, confused.

"…Wait—he can see you?"

The girl didn't answer.

But she didn't deny it either.

Aarav's heartbeat sped up.

"…That means…"

"I'm not the only one," the man finished for him.

🧩 The Observer

The man walked closer.

Slow.

Controlled.

Each step felt… wrong.

Like the ground didn't fully accept him.

"…I've been watching this pattern for years," he said.

"Pattern?" Aarav repeated.

The man stopped a few steps away.

Then looked directly at Aarav's hand.

At the mark.

"…Ah," he murmured.

A faint smile appeared.

"You broke it."

Aarav clenched his fist.

"…Stop talking in riddles."

The man looked up.

Eyes locking onto his.

"Everyone who meets her forgets."

A pause.

"But you didn't."

Silence.

Aarav's throat went dry.

"…Not completely."

The man nodded slowly.

"That's all it takes."

👁️ The Truth

The girl stepped in front of Aarav.

Protective.

"Stay away from him," she said.

The man raised an eyebrow.

"…You're protecting him?"

A pause.

Then a soft chuckle.

"That's new."

Aarav looked between them.

"…You've met before?"

The man's smile didn't fade.

"More times than she remembers."

A chill ran through Aarav.

"…What does that mean?"

The girl's voice turned cold.

"…He's lying."

"Am I?" the man replied calmly.

💣 The Real Danger

Suddenly—

The air cracked.

Louder than before.

The silence deepened.

Aarav felt it instantly.

That presence.

But now—

It wasn't distant anymore.

It was right above them.

"…Too late," the man said quietly.

Aarav's heart slammed in his chest.

"…What's too late?"

The man looked up at the sky.

"You made yourself visible."

The cracks in the air—

All turned.

Toward Aarav.

Like something massive had just—

Locked onto him.

⚡ The Realization

The girl grabbed his arm tightly.

"…It sees you now."

Aarav's breath shook.

"…That thing in the forest?"

She shook her head slowly.

"No."

Her voice dropped.

"Something much worse."

👁️ The Watcher Awakens

The sky split—

Just for a second.

And through that crack—

Something moved.

Not a creature.

Not a shape.

Something… bigger.

Something that didn't belong to reality at all.

Aarav's vision blurred.

His mind screamed.

And then—

A voice.

Not heard.

Felt.

"You are seen."

Aarav dropped to his knees.

The world trembled.

The man smiled faintly.

"…Now it begins
