A knock echoed through Steven Green's room.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
His expression hardened at once, the last trace of ease draining from his face as caution took over.
He had no friends anymore. Everyone around him was a potential enemy. Whoever stood outside his door could very well be here to hurt him.
Without opening the door, he raised his voice.
"Who's there?"
A calm female voice answered from the other side.
"It's Midrin."
Midrin...?
Steven frowned.
The principal's daughter? Why would she come here?
She certainly wasn't here to befriend him. With the reputation he had, that was almost impossible.
Then why is she here?
Question after question flooded in his mind.
Remaining wary of danger, Steven silently opened his inventory portal and placed a throwing knife at its entrance, ready to draw and launch it the moment he sensed any threat.
Only after preparing himself did he slowly unlock the door.

The door creaked open.
