Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: the mirror and the void

The atmosphere in the Coliseum had shifted from celebratory to predatory. The 1st Division, the "Aegis Prime," was bleeding prestige. With three of their elites already sidelined, the pressure on Seraphina was suffocating. She stepped onto the ring, her silver armor polished to a blinding sheen, reflecting the thousands of flickering stadium lights. Across from her, Mikasa stood in a relaxed military stance, her eyes cold and calculating, her fingers twitching near the space where her Evolith manifested.

Mikasa (10th) vs. Seraphina (1st)

"You're an anomaly, Mikasa," Seraphina said, her voice like chiming glass. She raised her hands, and six rectangular shards of light materialized around her. "But you cannot defeat what you cannot hit. I am the mirror; I can reflect anything, you throw at me".

The buzzer sounded, and Mikasa didn't hesitate. She swept her hand through the air, and a M134 Minigun materialized in a blur of blue energy. Without a word, she opened fire. The roar of the rotating barrels filled the stadium as a stream of lead shredded the air.

Seraphina didn't move. One of her mirror shards drifted in front of her. As the bullets struck the glass-like surface, they didn't shatter it. Instead, they dived into the reflection and emerged from a second shard behind Mikasa.

Mikasa performed a combat roll, the sound of her own bullets whistling past her ear. She vanished the minigun and summoned dual a plasma gun firing precisely at the edges of the mirrors.

"Predictable," Seraphina hissed. She gestured, and the mirrors expanded, forming a kaleidoscopic dome around Mikasa. "Everything you send at me, I return tenfold!"

The mirrors began to glow. Suddenly, dozens of Mikasa's own weapons—rifles, grenades, daggers—began to emerge from the glass. Seraphina wasn't just reflecting projectiles; she was reflecting the concept of Mikasa's arsenal.

Mikasa was caught in a storm of her own making. She summoned a riot shield to block a hail of bullets, then a tactical katana to parry a bayonet. She was moving with the "Cold Logic" she was known for, but the crowd could see she was being pushed back.

"Is that it?" Seraphina taunted. "The 10th's weapons specialist is being killed by her own tools!"

Mikasa stopped. She let her weapons vanish. She stood in the center of the mirror dome, her eyes closing.Body vs. Intent, she thought, remembering Elias's words. If she reflects the physical attack, I have to change the will or intent ,

Mikasa reached into her Evolith and pulled out something the crowd had never seen. It wasn't a gun. It was a Black Box with a single, glowing red lens.

"A sensor?" Seraphina laughed. "You brought a camera to a war?"

"It's an Experimental Frequency Jammer," Mikasa said flatly.

She activated the device. A high-pitched whine filled the ring . The mirror shards began to vibrate violently. Seraphina's "Mirror evoliths " relied on light-wave synchronization—by flooding the area with a chaotic electronic frequency, Mikasa was "cracking" the reflection.

The mirrors shattered into harmless light. Seraphina gasped, her defense gone. In that heartbeat, Mikasa was on her. She didn't summon a gun. She summoned a Weighted Combat Staff.

CRACK.

The staff caught Seraphina in the ribs, then the knees, then the shoulder. It was a masterclass in CQC (Close Quarters Combat). Seraphina tried to manifest a small shard to block, but Mikasa summoned a Flashbang directly in front of Seraphina's face.

BANG.

Blinded and disoriented, Seraphina stumbled. Mikasa swung the staff one last time, a heavy blow to the stomach that sent the 1st Division elite flying backward. Seraphina skidded across the stone, stopping inches from the edge. She tried to stand, but Mikasa was already there, the barrel of a Sawn-off Shot plasmagun pressed against her forehead.

"Checkmate," Mikasa whispered.

The referee raised his hand. WINNER: MIKASA

The 1st Division section went silent. Valerius Flare stood up, his face contorted with a rage that looked like physical pain. He looked down at the shivering, broken Seraphina as she was helped up by medics.

"An Aegis Prime losing to a scavenger?" Valerius's voice boomed, carrying across the silent arena. "You are all failures. You disgrace the name of the 1st. Don't look at me, Seraphina. Your pride isn't just crashed; it's nonexistent."

Seraphina's eyes filled with tears, her head bowing in shame as she was led away. The 10th Division had just claimed another victory.

Valerius Flare (1st) vs. Zorin Lyx (4th)

Valerius stepped onto the ring , and the stone beneath his feet began to glow orange. He didn't wait for the match to start; he radiated a heat that forced the front row of the crowd to lean back.

Zorin Lyx, a man of the 4th, inhaled deeply. His chest expanded like a bellows. "I'll blow that fire right back down your throat, Flare!"

Zorin unleashed a Combustion Blast, a massive shockwave of compressed air that hit Valerius like a freight train. The explosion was deafening.

When the smoke cleared, Valerius hadn't moved an inch. He was standing in a pillar of viscous, deep-crimson lava. "Is that the best the 4th can do?"

Valerius raised a single finger. A tiny bead of lava formed at the tip. He flicked it. The bead moved like a bullet, expanding into a massive wave of molten rock mid-air. Zorin tried to suck in air for another blast, but the heat was so intense it burned his lungs before he could even compress the oxygen.

Valerius closed his fist. The lava exploded. Zorin was launched out of the ring, his uniform singed and his body smoking. It wasn't a fight; it was an execution.

WINNER: VALERIUS

Valerius didn't celebrate. He looked directly at the 10th Division bench, his eyes landing on Elias. "I'm coming for you next," his gaze promised.

The Battle of the Vice-Captains

: Tessa Sol (3rd) vs. Temi Nova (5th)

The arena lights dimmed as the two most powerful women of the mid-divisions stepped out. Tessa Sol, the 3rd Division Vice-Captain, held ten thin, nearly invisible metallic threads between her fingers. Across from her, Temi Nova of the 5th stood calmly, a swirling sphere of water rotating around her waist.

"Threads can't cut water, Tessa," Temi said with a serene smile.

"Maybe not," Tessa replied, her eyes sharp. "But they can catch the person inside it."

The battle was a dance of lethal beauty. Tessa moved through the air, her threads attaching to the ring pillars, allowing her to swing and strike from impossible angles. She wove a web of steel across the arena, intending to trap Temi in a "Cutter's Nest."

Temi responded by turning her water into a High-Pressure Blade. She sliced through the threads as if they were silk, her movements fluid and unstoppable.

In the VIP Spire, Kaizen Flux (3rd Captain) leaned over to Zainab Virel (5th Captain). "Fifty thousand U-Credit says Tessa has her tied up in three minutes."

Zainab chuckled. "Double it. Temi hasn't even used her second form yet."

Suddenly, Temi changed the temperature. The water didn't freeze; it became Heavy Water. The density increased tenfold. She unleashed a Tidal Crash that didn't just push—it crushed. Tessa tried to use her threads to anchor herself, but the weight of the water snapped the reinforced steel.

Temi finished the match with a Hydro-Prison, encapping Tessa in a sphere of water so dense it acted like a solid wall. Unable to move or breathe, Tessa tapped out.

WINNER: TEMI NOVA

The crowd erupted. Even the Captains were impressed. The 5th Division had proven that they were a force to be reckoned with.

The Official Roster: Round of 13

As the final smoke cleared from the rest of the matches and the sun began to set behind the Spire, the massive holographic board updated for the final time. The announcer's voice shook with excitement.

"Ladies and gentlemen! We have reached the pinnacle! These are your finalists
