To keep Solus controlled, Evil Peter went completely all out.
Wind Release: Rasenshuriken, Lightning Release: Electromagnetic Shuriken, Fire Release: Great Flame Mega-Ball Rasengan—all infused with the divine power of the Vanir—assorted variants of energy spheres rained down upon Solus's body as if they cost nothing.
The slicing capacity of Wind Release, the paralyzing effect of Lightning Release, the continuous burning of Fire Release... all sorts of status effects accumulated relentlessly.
This was precisely because Peter had the Horse Talisman backing him, allowing him to endlessly wring out energy from his body.
Had it been anyone else, maintaining such high-intensity energy output would have likely drained them bone-dry and burned them completely to ashes long before managing to crowd-control Solus.
However, this tactic was undeniably effective.
Solus had underestimated his enemy, relying on his cosmic energy barrier to take the first Rasenshuriken head-on. After that, he no longer had the luxury of choice.
Before he could even break free from the torment of the previous round of hundreds of millions of microscopic chakra needles, Peter's next shuriken had already smashed right into his face.
Debuffs of various elemental attributes took turns on the rotation, continuously grinding down the defensive capabilities of the cosmic energy.
Such a shameless strategy left Solus completely at a loss. He was clearly trembling with pure rage, yet he was utterly unable to move. It was exactly like a Darius who had activated Ghost encountering a Zilean with fully maximized cooldown reduction;
He could see five stacks of Blood Noxian Might floating over his opponent's head, yet he was locked hard in place by the double bombs, unable to cast even a single ultimate no matter how hard he mashed his keyboard.
After being wildly bombarded by Peter for nearly two minutes, Solus finally managed to find a sliver of an opening.
Channeling a sufficiently massive wave of cosmic energy, he forcefully broke free from the crowd-control status. His eyes blood-red, he roared as he charged toward Peter:
"Damned little insect, don't get too carried away!"
Solus blew the caught-off-guard Evil Peter away with a single punch, but he did not immediately pursue him for close-quarters combat.
The prolonged crowd-control effects from earlier had left a raging fire in his chest, making him want to mimic Peter's style and teach Peter a lesson using long-range attacks.
But this man had long grown accustomed to close-quarters brawling over the span of the past several thousand years. He possessed absolutely zero experience in the department of long-range offenses, capable only of standing stupidly in place to charge up energy waves.
Furthermore, because he hadn't obtained the genuine recognition of the cosmic energy, his movements when forcefully driving it were just like trying to play a recently released AAA masterpiece on a ten-year-old mining graphics card—the stuttering was simply painful to look at.
The few long-range attacks he attempted to blast out were ridiculously slow, every single one of them predicted by Peter's Observation Haki and dodged with absolute ease.
Of course, this so-called slowness was only relative to a monster like Peter who had unlocked Observation Haki. If any of the superheroes outside—like Tony or Captain America—were to receive them, at least ninety-nine percent of them wouldn't even have the reaction time before being ground into dust by the energy waves smashing into their faces.
"Oi old man, you can't even do this? Do you need me to prepare a pair of reading glasses for you? I feel like even if I just stood perfectly still and let you strike, you still wouldn't hit me"
Seeing that long-range attacks yielded poor results against Evil Peter, while he himself was being mocked to the point of spiking blood pressure, the already red-hot Solus had to abandon the idea of an eye for an eye and crowd-controlling Peter to death with ranged attacks.
Instead, he lunged violently toward Peter, deciding to cripple this damned "Other" first before doing anything else.
After a frantic game of cat-and-mouse entanglement, Evil Peter was ultimately caught by Solus due to being a step slower in speed, and was driven heavily into the ground.
"Accursed little insect, run! Weren't you highly capable of running just now? Let's see where you can run this time!"
Solus locked onto Peter's neck with a single hand, his tone overflowing with arrogance.
Seeing this development, the hearts of the gathered superheroes practically leaped into their throats.
The four girls—Gwen, Felicia, Sif, and Natasha—were so anxious they wished they could instantly flash to Peter's side and trade their own lives to let Peter survive his opponent's grip.
One by one, they frantically pounded against the energy shield blocking their path, attempting to break inside to buy a brief moment of respite for Peter. But their strength was simply too minuscule before Solus; there was no way Good Peter would let them in.
On the other side, inside the protective shield, Evil Peter—who was being held by the neck and lifted in mid-air by Solus—was clearly backed into a dead end. Yet a smile still surfaced on his face, a smile that was unbridled and arrogant:
"Old man, you're right. I indeed won't be running anymore."
Solus couldn't help but freeze, a faint ominous premonition surfacing in his heart. But he truly couldn't fathom what kind of waves the Peter before him could possibly stir up at this point, so he suppressed the unease in his chest and flashed a mocking smile at him:
"Realizing you are destined for failure, so you simply chose to give up? That is indeed a wise choice."
Just as he was mocking Evil Peter, Evil Peter quietly rotated the Omnitrix on his wrist, and subsequently flashed a savage smile at Solus:
"No, no, no, old man. What kind of beautiful dream are you having? The reason I'm not running is actually because... your damned doomsday has arrived."
Boom!
The exact split second Peter's words fell, a terrifying force suddenly erupted from within his body. The sheer horror of that power caused even Solus's complexion to change.
Realizing things were amiss, he subconsciously tightened the grip of his hand, attempting to choke Peter to death. But before he could make a move, Peter's hand had already locked around his wrist ahead of time. Solus even felt that the strength transmitting from that hand was simply enough to crush a planet instantly.
A crisp cracking sound echoed.
In the next second, Solus's wrist was violently snapped. His fingers loosened involuntarily, but Peter did not fall to the ground, instead floating gracefully in mid-air.
His body suddenly turned pitch-black, and closely following that, speckles of starlight lit up across it, looking as dreamlike as the cosmic stars. These starlight clusters converged across his form, gradually forming lines resembling celestial orbits.
It turned out that Peter had finally endured the three-minute duration required for the Omnitrix to replicate the genome, successfully copying the cosmic energy mode from Solus's body.
Upon receiving the enhancement of the stellar energy, he instantly entered the Captain Universe form.
Witnessing the transformation surfacing across Peter's body and looking at that aesthetic which was completely identical to the Captain Universe Spider-Man he had clashed with previously, Solus's face warped completely.
His originally arrogant expression instantly became uglier than if he had lost his own mother.
His finger trembling as he pointed at Peter, he couldn't resist screaming in terror:
"No! This is impossible! This power is clearly inside my body! How could you obtain this power?!"
Facing his screams, Peter merely displayed a look of disdain.
"Who said that just because this power is inside your body, I can't obtain it?"
"Old man, are you ready? Next up, the battlefield is about to completely reverse."
The exact split second his words fell, Peter's silhouette vanished abruptly. The speed of that movement was easily several times faster than even Solus from before.
