Chapter 246 - Two Others?

The death of Verna caused all the Inheritors currently locked in bitter combat on the field to subconsciously halt the movements of their hands. Their pupils shrank sharply, and brief expressions of astonishment surfaced on their faces.

As the eldest daughter of the family, although Verna was not the strongest in combat prowess, she was by no means a weakling who could be easily slain.

However, this astonishment lasted for less than three seconds before being thoroughly dispersed by the cold indifference and arrogance bred into the very bones of the Inheritors.

Morlun let out a sneer, acting as if the person who had just died before his eyes wasn't his biological younger sister, but some insignificant stray cat or dog:

"Hmph, trash will always be trash. To think she couldn't even handle these wastes, who aren't even Spider Totems."

Without any hesitation, Morlun turned back around and tangled with Tony once again.

The other Inheritors shared almost the same reaction. To them, death was never the end. As long as the memory crystals and clone bodies of the clone factory remained, they could borrow a corpse to return their souls time and again.

The bitter battle erupted once more, becoming even more tragic and fierce than before. Although Morlun and the others spoke with disdain, their hearts felt immense pressure due to the loss of a member, causing them to become increasingly frenzied in their offenses.

Yet their madness was still entirely to no avail.

As time ticked by, the superheroes—under Peter's absolute protection—had already adapted to the intensity of the battle, executing their combinations with increasing proficiency. The Spider-Men coordinated with a tighter and tighter tacit understanding.

After adapting to the intensity of the fight, Gwen performed less and less like a standard Spider-Man. Because the Spider-Sense was useless against the Inheritors, she began to heavily rely on the learning capabilities of the symbiote suit instead!

With Peter's telekinetic shield serving as an absolute defense on her body, the symbiote's learning ability was simply a bug-level existence. With the passage of time, Gwen's combat experience soared rapidly like a rising rocket.

At the very start of the battle, she could only provide support for Captain America and the others, but now she was capable of single-handedly challenging a member of the Inheritor family.

On the other side, Felicia also put her talent on display. Although she was an agile Black Cat, she didn't choose to engage in close-quarters combat like Gwen. Instead, she maximized her value as a commander.

As the battle progressed, she gradually formed a tightly coordinated four-person squad with Hawkeye, Sif, and Aleksei. Felicia was responsible for stat-buffing and mid-field coordination. Hawkeye was responsible for long-range harassment.

Sif held the frontline with her sword and shield to pin down the opponent. Meanwhile, Aleksei relied on his radiation suit to unleash his "Aleksei Grand Charge" time and time again.

In the blink of an eye, another dozen or so minutes passed. Despite the protection of the telekinetic shields, the streets of Hell's Kitchen became completely dilapidated under the continuous aftershocks of the battle.

The Inheritors also paid a heavy price for their sheer arrogance.

Daemos's left arm was severed by Sif using an Asgardian divine weapon, and immediately after, he was sent flying by Aleksei's charge before his head was utterly crushed by a War Stomp.

Bora was pinned down by a joint effort from Gwen and the Green Goblin, ultimately left with no power to retaliate under a rain of pumpkin bombs from Harry, before her heart was thoroughly pierced by the spikes on the glider, dying a definitive death.

At this point, the aggressively arriving Inheritors were left with only Morlun, Brix, and two other members. Morlun's body was covered in quite a few wounds, and his aura had become incredibly erratic.

After blasting Tony away once again, he panted heavily for breath, his brows furrowing deeply into the shape of a canyon.

More than ten minutes had already passed. According to the efficiency of the clone factory, Verna, Daemos, and Bora should have long finished their resurrections. Yet up until now, not even a single ripple of energy fluctuations had been transmitted over.

"Something's wrong," Morlun muttered in a low voice. "What happened on the factory's side? Why haven't they returned yet?"

The wild arrogance on Brix's face had also completely receded:

"Big brother, could it be that something went wrong with the clone factory?"

"Impossible. The factory has Jennix guarding it. How could those low-grade Spiders succeed in an ambush?" Morlun forced himself to appear calm.

Right at this moment, a ripple of spatial energy vibrated in mid-air. A glowing blue teleportation portal slowly opened.

Seeing the appearance of that teleportation portal, Morlun instantly pulled off a dramatic face change, laughing wildly:

"Hahahahaha~ What did I tell you? This must be Verna and the others arriving with their clone bodies!"

Brix and the other three also revealed smiles of surviving a disaster. Across from them, the telekinetic shields on quite a few superheroes had already developed cracks.

They only needed to wait for the full-health, resurrected trio of Daemos to return, and they would absolutely smash those turtle shells to pieces!

The four of them locked their eyes onto the teleportation portal, fully prepared to launch a final charge alongside the resurrected Daemos and the others.

But when the silhouettes walked out from the portal, the smiles on Morlun and his companions' faces completely froze.

No, it wasn't just as simple as freezing; their faces completely contorted into a heap, forming an expression that was incomparably shocked yet held a bizarre touch of comedy.

Because walking out from that teleportation portal was impressively Peter Parker, alongside Ultimate Spider-Man, Miguel, and the other Spiders who were supposed to be responsible for invading Universe-001!

The moment he saw Peter, Morlun felt his brain buzz violently. He subconsciously turned his head to look at Peter, who was being protected behind the superheroes.

That Other, wearing the black-and-gold suit, who had been continuously blocking them with the telekinetic shields, was still standing right there on the spot.

Two Others—their features and figures were completely identical!

"How can there be two Others?" one Inheritor couldn't help but murmur to himself.

Morlun felt like his CPU was about to melt. If that Peter emitting white light in mid-air was the legendary "Other" who could thoroughly kill them, then who was the one who had been maintaining the shields all this time? If that fellow wasn't the Other, where on earth did he get the power to continuously output such a long-lasting shield?

Before they could figure out this question, the two Peters suddenly moved.

The two met in mid-air, instantly fusing together. As the white light dispersed, the two Peters integrated completely into one.

"Are you quite curious?" Peter's slightly amused voice clearly entered everyone's ears. "Curious why your dead brothers and sisters haven't returned? Curious about what exactly happened over at the clone factory?"

Hearing the words "clone factory," Morlun felt a sharp ringing in his brain. His body trembled violently, and he felt his throat tighten step by step:

"How do you know about the clone factory?... What did you do to the factory?!"

Peter didn't speak, merely raising both of his hands. Extended between his ten fingers were seven blood-red crystals. The crystals emitted a faint red glow, swirling with the totem energy fluctuations that they were incomparably familiar with.

It was precisely the memory crystals that the Inheritors relied upon for resurrection!

Brix couldn't resist screaming out in terror: "Those are our memory crystals! How do you have them?!"

Morlun was on the verge of going completely insane, his excited voice changing its pitch entirely:

"Impossible! What was Jennix doing? What was that waste Karn doing? How could they let you get your hands on those?!"

Before he could even finish speaking, the other two remaining Inheritors had already rushed toward Peter like madmen. They had already realized a definitive fact—if they couldn't snatch those final backups back, they were thoroughly finished!
