Chapter 2 - Two

Third Person Pov.

The night air whistled as a figure descended in the middle of the clearing, just a few meters away from the small figure laid on the ground– her breath was faint and almost non-existent and anyone could tell she was as good as dead.

But her heart kept screaming loudly and cursing at the deities over and over again, she refused to accept her fate…she refused to believe her story would end just like this.

The figure before her smiled, her eyes glinting sharply as she took slow unhurried steps towards the individual and stopped just an inch away from her.

"...you called for me?" The voice was like a thousand nightingales speaking but somehow it sounded both sweet, solemn and sad but had an underlying hint of rage that could make any ordinary man shiver with fear.

The heart voice of the woman laid on the ground stopped at that unfamiliar voice and the figure raised an eyebrow before flicking a finger of hers and something spectacular happened.

Tendrils of spiritual power left her fingers and encompassed the woman laid on the ground whole for a single second before the woman rose, not her real body but the spirit inside of her.

As soon as she saw the figure standing in front of her, she almost felt fear but suspicion cleared that away.

"Answer me, mortal. Why do you call my name so desperately? I don't believe I owe you a debt of life," she said and the woman finally understood, this was Nyxa, the sister to the moon goddess that had fallen from grace centuries ago.

She was the same goddess that she, Charlene had called out for with her last breath.

"Nyxa?" She asked softly and the woman simply gave her a small nod and instantly, she fell to her knees and spoke up, her voice strong and firm.

"goddess Nyxa, forgive me. But I need your help, I know you have a blood feud with the moon goddess and tonight, I will be your first partner. I'm aware of my insignificant existence but I do not want to be your partner, I want to make the moon bleed and I want to do it under the right-"

"Say no more, I truly appreciate your tenacity and courage. I will work with you. But just for that statement alone, we will make the moon bleed but hear me now, it won't be an easy feat," The figure whispered, her heart filled with renewed rage at the sound of that title.

"I never wanted it to be," she re-echoed and the figure nodded then glanced back at the woman almost on her last breath in the ground before sighing.

"I recently acquired some sort of energy from the depths of the undead ruins, perhaps it might help you out. But if you want to live, you will have to fight for your life yourself." She said and raised her hand up to the skies and an energy bob appeared in her palm.

She whispered a small chant and the energy bob flew off her hand and entered the forehead of the woman and instantly, her spirit went wild as she was drawn right towards her body.

"I will wait for chaos, deliver it to me and I do not accept the term, mercy for the wicked. Repay with what you were given a hundred times over,"her gaze turned icy as she said all this and before the spirit could respond, she soared through the trees and disappeared into the skies.

What woke Charlene up wasn't just the unjust feeling she still held in her heart, it was pain…. Pure unadulterated pain that felt like it was rippling through every last one of her nerves and frying it as it went.

Her entire consciousness could even feel it, and then her skin began to burn as if many people were pinching against her skin, her tightly shut eyes snapped open and she gasped with horror.

All around her, flimsy see through beings with skulls for head and smoke for bodies scratched at her from everywhere she could see from her point.

She tried to escape them but it proved futile and as time passed, she eventually began to accept this feeling and even began to relish it.

But then, just as quick as it started, it stopped and they all disappeared, leaving her in that thick dark void. She glanced around in confusion and just then, a sharp red light encompassed her whole and then the void disappeared.

She snapped her eyes open to find nothing but white obscuring her vision, she raised her hands and every one of them turned into ash and dissipated with the howling winds.

She slowly stood to her feet and clumps of dirt fell off her body, she was as naked as the day she was born but that didn't seem to bother her as her energy swept through the white colored forests in search of clear information for where she was.

She vaguely heard some things and understood that spring has just passed and while winter followed, it recently turned into a cold snowing blizzard that threatened so many lives.

Hmm, so it hasn't been long since I slept. She mused and glanced down but shook her head as a robe materialized all around her and she took her first step forward but unexpectedly, her feet trembled and she fell face first to the ground.

*Easy child, you just reawakened. This is perfectly normal,*a voice whispered into her head and she nodded, not showing any hint of fear at the unexpected sound before she attempted once again to stand but after a while of trial and error, she finally started to walk again.

But she took her time, slowly walking into the forest and flicking her wrists to summon a small makeshift stick to help her move more better.

Just then, she stopped as a huge black wolf tumbled past her, shaky on his feet as he growled at her but she didn't say anything as she simply stared at him with disinterest.

"You bastard!!"

"How dare you run?"

"We should kill you for this!!"

"You worthless thing, you have some guts trying to escape us after that stunt you pulled on Lisa!!"

"Ohh, a woman… she's so pretty," the first voice stopped as four wolves, two were brown in color and the other two were each red and maroon blue.

The one in maroon blue said the last statement and he had stepped forward after he said it like he had nothing to fear.

Charlene said nothing, she still felt weak but she was confident that if it came to a fight, she could kill these four and maybe the first one.

But glancing back at the first wolf, she found him laid on the ground and writhing in pain and subtly shook her head–he was a lost cause.

"Get lost!" She whispered, her voice and words mirroring each other–soft, calm but had an underlying hint to it that didn't go unnoticed by the pain filled wolf.

Somehow, he felt like this woman wasn't simple and the aura he could see around her made him feel fear and something else he refused to name.

"Why would we do that when we have something better here to enjoy?"

"Exactly, took the words right out of my mouth Kleo."

"Bring her to me!" The maroon colored wolf ordered and the trio nodded before they began to trot towards the woman but she simply sighed.

"I see your sense of understanding has suffered greatly before your birth, let me rectify that." She said and they all laughed, each of them taking her words unseriously as they kept advancing with some sort of le-.

Just then— a snap echoed through the air and a piercing scream filled the small clearing and right there and then, Kleo collapsed to the ground– dead.

And in front of their eyes, he deformed and turned to ash.

Silence…then chaos filled screams as everyone tried to flee.
