Chapter 1 - The Secret of the Dark Forest

The Secret of the Dark Forest

Chapter 1: The Whisper in the Night

The village of Eldoria was small, quiet, and surrounded by a forest so dark that no one dared to enter it after sunset. The villagers believed the forest was cursed.

Every night, strange whispers echoed from the trees.

Some said it was the wind.

Others believed something else lived there.

But no one truly knew.

Except maybe… Liam.

Liam was a 19-year-old boy who had lived in Eldoria his whole life. Unlike others, he wasn't afraid of the forest. In fact, he felt strangely drawn to it.

Since he was a child, he had heard the whispers too.

But the strange thing was…

The whispers sometimes called his name.

"Liam…"

At first, he thought it was just his imagination.

But the voice kept coming back.

Every night.

Stronger.

Clearer.

And tonight… it sounded closer than ever.

Liam stood outside his small wooden house, staring at the edge of the forest.

The moon hung low in the sky, casting silver light across the trees.

The forest looked alive.

Branches moved even though there was no wind.

The shadows shifted slowly.

And then—

"Liam…"

The whisper came again.

His heart pounded.

This time it wasn't in his head.

It came from the forest.

Behind him, the door creaked open.

His grandmother stepped outside.

"Liam, what are you doing out here?" she asked softly.

He didn't turn around.

"Grandma… have you ever heard the forest call someone's name?"

For a moment, she said nothing.

Then her voice became serious.

"Come inside."

Now.

But Liam didn't move.

"Grandma… what's inside that forest?"

She grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the house.

"You must never go there."

"Why?"

Her eyes filled with fear.

"Because some things in this world… are not meant to wake up again."

Later that night, Liam couldn't sleep.

The whisper kept returning.

"Liam…"

"Come…"

"Find me…"

He sat up in bed.

The voice was different tonight.

It wasn't just calling him.

It was guiding him.

Slowly, he walked to the window.

The forest was glowing.

A faint blue light flickered deep among the trees.

Liam's breath stopped.

He had lived here all his life.

But he had never seen that light before.

The whisper came again.

Closer.

"Liam… the time has come."

His heart raced.

"What time?" he whispered.

No answer.

But the light in the forest suddenly grew brighter.

And something moved inside it.

Something big.

Something ancient.

Liam grabbed his jacket.

He knew he shouldn't go.

His grandmother's warning echoed in his mind.

But curiosity was stronger than fear.

Slowly, quietly, he stepped outside.

The cold night air wrapped around him as he walked toward the forest.

Step by step.

Closer.

The trees loomed above him like giant shadows.

The moment he crossed the forest line…

The whispers stopped.

Complete silence.

Even the insects were gone.

Liam felt a chill run down his spine.

Then suddenly—

CRACK.

A branch snapped behind him.

He turned around quickly.

Nothing.

Just darkness.

"Hello?" he called.

No answer.

But then the blue light appeared again.

Right in front of him.

Floating between the trees.

And inside the light…

He saw something.

A symbol.

Burning in the air.

It looked ancient.

Powerful.

And strangely…

Familiar.

Liam slowly reached out his hand.

The moment his fingers touched the glowing symbol—

The ground began to shake.

The forest roared like a living creature.

And a deep voice echoed from the darkness.

Not a whisper this time.

A voice filled with power.

"After one thousand years…"

"You have finally returned."

Liam froze.

Returned?

Before he could react, the ground split open beneath him.

And something massive began to rise from the shadows of the forest.

Two glowing eyes opened in the darkness.

Watching him.

Waiting.

And the voice spoke again—

"Welcome back… King of the Forgotten Realm."

Liam's blood ran cold.

Because he had never heard those words before.
