Chapter 68 - I. OWN PEOPLE

Opal's POV

"Shall we go out today?" I asked as I picked up my teacup. The noise in the dining room halted for a few seconds. "Are you sure?" Varin asked. "Why not? We've been resting for two days." She nodded.

"I think we should. The last time it was a mess. This time we should enjoy ourselves." Soria agreed. "I also ordered a few things for the children from the Pendant Tower. We can pick them up while we shop." I added.

"Okay." Rain agreed. I looked at Kain and he nodded. "I have no objection." I take a sip of my tea. "Then we'll get ready after breakfast." Everyone nodded. "Why are you behaving like it's a death sentence?" Gena asked.

"After what happened the last time, we can only hope no one wants to die." Kain replied simply. Gena nodded. She was quick witted and extremely smart, better than her dead father but just like her mother. She quickly recognized me as her godmother and moved in with us without restraint.

I pause and put my teacup down. Dasa stepped forward to fill it up, but I raised my hand. She stopped, placed the teapot down and stepped back. I look around the dining table. "You're really grown up. Hiding such a big thing from me." Everyone quietened down.

Sera, even though I wasn't looking at her, lowered her head. Sena grabbed her hand, supporting her silently. "Did you think I would disapprove?" I look at her and she lowered her head further. "I just thought that now wasn't the time."

I sat back; my fingers tapped on the armrest. "When did you think would be the right time? Before or after you got pregnant?" Sera's hands immediately flew to her stomach. "I-." Varin almost flew out of her seat and rushed down to Sera's seat.

She didn't give her time to move and grabbed her arm. After a few seconds, Varin sighed deeply and walked back to her seat. "When did it start?" Kain asked her. "A year ago."

"Who is he?" Rain asked but Sera remained silent. "What do you plan to do?" Soria asked her. "I-. I don't know." She glanced at me. "Amara. Take your siblings to their rooms and get ready to go out." I tell Amara, she was the eldest after Rya. Amara stood up and the younger ones stood as well. They bowed and left the room.

Once they were far away, I look at Sera. Her eyes were filled with unshed tears. "What do you want to do?" I asked her. She looked up at me. "I love him." That answer annoyed me. "That's not what I asked you."

"I want to marry him." I nod. "Who made the first move?" She pointed to herself. "I'd liked him for far longer than just the few months before anything, but I didn't-."

"But what? You didn't dare to show your feelings? What changed?" I asked her. "I drank a lot of wine that night and worked up the courage to confess. Nothing happened between us until a month ago."

"We were still on the way here." Varin finally spoke. "I followed him to the river." I sighed deeply. "You helped her?" I looked at Sena. "I thought she wanted to go out in the surrounding areas to look around. Not to-." She refuted.

"Do you know his background?" She shook her head. "I asked but it's forbidden to reveal their backgrounds without permission."

A knock sounded on the door. "Come in." I called out. The door opened and a young man stepped in. He was familiar to all of us. A squad leader of my shadow guards, someone the boys personally trained.

He bowed but didn't say anything and when he straightened up, he kept his head down, but I saw the quick glance at Sera. He wasn't stupid, he already knew what this was about when he was called. He looked like he braced himself as he walking over.

"Calin." He bowed his head lower as he answered. "Master." I didn't say anything else and just watched him. "Everything will come into the light. Are you ready for that?" He tensed, his jaw clenched. He looked up at me. "No." Sera let out a shaky breath as her tears fell.

"But I'll face it for her." I stand up and stepped forward. My hand wrapped around his throat; his hands shot to my wrists as he gasped for air. His eyes didn't leave mine and I tightened my grip.

I released him and he dropped to one knee, steadily breathing in. I look down at him. "You know what reinstating your identity means." He nodded. "Yet you still want to do it?" He nodded again. I sighed. "Two days. If you can survive for two days, then I'll allow it." He kowtowed three times.

"Thank you Master." He stood up, glanced at Sera and left the room. I turn to look at him. "If you look for him or use any means to help him, I'll kill him and personally help you abort that child." Sera nodded.

"My mood is ruined. You can go out. I'll go and get some rest." They moved to stand and I raised my hand. "No need." I walk out of the room.

"Master, why go through the trouble?" Dasa asked me quietly. "It wasn't a rule, but this is lesson. How dare they do something like this under my nose? They must think that because I'm older, I've lost my touch."

Dasa smiled. "You already knew about it. Why behave this way?" I scoff. "It's because I know. I allowed it but that foolish girl didn't even think about using protective measures. I was truly taken aback when I realized she was pregnant."

Dasa opened my door and I stepped in. "What now?" I sat down at the table. "Now, he needs to endure. Once he does then, he'll be able to stand by her side with his proper identity."

"What if they don't accept it?" I lean on my hand. "Everyone's gathered in one place. He will know when he sees him. He'll have no choice but to admit it." I smile.

"Your plans really are magnificent, Master." I chuckle. "I didn't force them to like each other. I knew he would like someone eventually, but I never thought he'd stay in the family."
