Chapter 349 - Chapter 349 A Narrow Escape

The tsunami was not merely water.

It was a complex disaster mixing spiritual power and physical laws.

High in the sky, Yule's situation was equally perilous.

The gale was like an invisible giant hand, tearing at Crobat's wings.

This Pokémon, known for its speed, was now flapping its four thin wings to their limit, leaving only a blurry purple afterimage in the air; yet, it could only barely maintain a precarious balance within the roaring currents, avoiding being sucked into the heart of that destructive storm.

Water vapor condensed into a cold mist, hitting Yule's face with a bone-chilling cold.

Her expression was more solemn than ever before, and those eyes, which always held a hint of calm and scrutiny, were now deadlocked on the tiny black speck below.

Ariel.

Has he gone mad?

That was the only thought flashing through Yule's mind.

Instead of running, he charged straight toward the front of the tsunami.

What kind of absurd suicidal behavior was this?

In the face of a disaster of this magnitude, any flesh and blood, any Pokémon, was nothing more than dust.

Even if one charged in, they would be ground into primitive particles by the frantically intersecting water currents and spiritual turbulence.

Yule's breath hitched slightly as she watched that figure be completely swallowed by the gargantuan waves, feeling an inexplicable sense of emptiness in her heart.

He must be dead.

Thinking this, she urged Crobat to fly higher, looking down upon the raging ocean.

However, on the other side of the tsunami, upon the calm surface of the sea, space suddenly seemed to be distorted by an invisible hand.

A black speck appeared out of thin air.

First came the ferocious and massive head of Gyarados, then the drenched but upright figure standing on its back.

Ariel!

Yule's pupils constricted sharply.

On her exquisite face, her usual composure and sense of control cracked for the first time, replaced by a pure, incomprehensible shock.

How is that possible?

How did he do it?

Passed through the tsunami? You've got to be kidding me!

"This guy... his luck is unexpectedly good."

Yule whispered to herself, her voice carrying a hint of wavering she hadn't even noticed.

She would rather believe it was some one-in-a-billion coincidence or some incomprehensible luck than consider the hidden trump cards it represented—cards she knew nothing about.

That would mean her assessment of Ariel had been fatally flawed.

On the sea's surface, Ariel wiped the seawater from his face and looked up at the blurry black speck high in the sky.

He knew Yule was watching.

He also knew what she was thinking at this moment.

Only he knew the danger of that split second just now.

When Gyarados plunged headfirst into that pitch-black wall of water, the world instantly lost all sound and light.

Infinite pressure squeezed in from all directions, and the scales Gyarados took such pride in groaned under the unbearable weight.

Ariel's body felt like it was being torn apart, his bones creaking.

Now!

"Protect!"

Gyarados let out a resolute roar, and a green energy barrier instantly expanded, isolating them from the violent turbulence.

A vacuum period lasting less than a second.

An absolutely safe domain.

But outside the barrier was a hell capable of crushing everything.

The energy shield deformed violently under the horrific pressure, emitting a piercing hum as cracks spread rapidly like a spiderweb.

Without a moment's hesitation, Ariel flicked his wrist, and a Poké Ball popped out from his fingertips.

A red light flashed, and a bizarrely shaped Pokémon appeared in the cramped space.

Malamar!

Its eyes, flashing with an eerie light, glowed in the darkness, and a powerful Psychic wave instantly locked onto a spatial coordinate outside.

"Go!"

Ariel's command was concise and clear.

Malamar's Psychic power erupted, and the surrounding space began to twist and fold.

The world before them turned into a kaleidoscope of bizarre colors, then was suddenly pulled away.

Teleport!

A second later, sunlight, sea breezes, and salty air enveloped them once again.

Ariel let out a long breath, his chest heaving violently.

That sequence of actions required perfect timing; if any part had gone wrong, he and Gyarados would be nothing but shredded meat in the sea by now.

He looked up and gave a casual wave to Yule high above, a faint smirk playing on his lips.

Stop guessing; you won't figure it out.

This was the subtext he expressed through his actions.

Gyarados also raised its head, letting out a spirited roar, as if venting or perhaps taunting.

Yule watched the man and dragon below in silence for a long time before huffing softly and withdrawing her gaze.

This man hid much more than she had imagined.

...

Mega Latias and Mega Latios.

The two legendary Pokémon were currently burning their very lives.

They knew that behind them was the paradise known as the Southern Isolated Island.

There were countless Pokémon there that trusted them.

If this tsunami, mixed with Mewtwo's endless rage and law-level Psychic powers, were to wash over it, not a single living soul would remain on the island.

There was no retreat!

Two streaks of light, turning into two of the sharpest daggers, pierced resolutely toward that purple-black canopy representing destruction.

"Buzz—!"

An indescribable collision occurred.

It wasn't a sound, but a vibration that acted directly on the soul level.

Space wailed, and light was distorted.

The Mega Lati twins poured all their spiritual power and life energy without reservation into this single impact.

Together, they held open a massive Heart Barrier, attempting to forcibly halt the world-destroying Psychic tsunami.

However, their opponent was Mewtwo.

The strongest man-made Pokémon, who had cast off all restraints and completely unleashed its power.

At this moment, Mewtwo's Psychic power was no longer just simple energy but had reached the level of "laws."

Its will was the rule of this domain.

The tsunami's advance paused only slightly before crushing forward with an even more violent posture.

The Heart Barrier held up by the Lati twins was like a candle flame in a gale, flickering violently and uncertainly, threatening to go out at any moment.

Mewtwo floated atop the tsunami; for the first time, its purple eyes were devoid of confusion, anger, or pain.

In their place was a pure, almost fanatical fighting spirit.

It enjoyed this feeling.

Enjoying the power surging through its body, pouring out without restraint, engaging in the most primitive and pure collision with an opponent of the same level.

It even feel the protective will contained within the opponent's two spiritual forces—that sense of resolution and tragedy.

Interesting.

Is this... what a battle is?

For the first time, the corner of Mewtwo's mouth curled into an arc that wasn't cold or mocking.

It was a warrior's sense of hearty "satisfaction."

As the massive tsunami crashed into the barrier.

"Crack—!"

The barrier shattered upon impact.

Yet, most of the Psychic tsunami's power had ultimately been blocked by the Lati twins at the cost of their lives.

The aftershocks spread out, turning into howling winds and giant waves, but they had lost that law-like power capable of leveling everything.

The Southern Isolated Island was saved.

But the price was heavy.
