The next day the camp tried to return to normal.
But tension hung in the air.
Rick organized patrols.
Shane reinforced the camp perimeter.
Meanwhile children were told to stay close to the tents.
Carol and Sophia walked near the forest gathering small branches for the fire.
"Not too far," Carol warned.
Sophia nodded.
A bird suddenly burst out of the trees nearby.
Sophia jumped.
"Mom!"
Carol turned—
And froze.
A walker stumbled out of the forest behind them.
Rotting.
Hungry.
"Sophia run!"
The girl screamed and ran into the woods.
"Sophia!"
Carol tried to follow—
But the walker grabbed her arm.
Suddenly a knife flashed.
The walker collapsed instantly.
Ghost stood there holding the blade.
Carol gasped.
"My daughter!"
Ghost looked toward the forest.
The broken branches.
The footprints.
"She ran."
Carol's voice trembled.
"Please… find her."
Rick and Shane arrived seconds later.
"What happened?"
Carol pointed into the trees.
"Sophia!"
Rick cursed under his breath.
"We search."
Shane nodded.
"We split into groups."
But Ghost was already moving.
Without another word he disappeared into the forest.
