Chapter 5 - C-5

" What the fuck are you?" I asked cautiously even though I could guess, but I didn't want it to be true because if it was, then I was probably about to die.

" Wouldn't you like to know?" She replied, a grin on her face probably relishing in her superiority over the situation.

" But since I'm generous and giving out information to a fellow player is the right thing to do, I'll tell you...." She said insinuating the 'giving out information' part.

" I'm this thing called Mutant or Homosuperior." She told me and immediately my fears were realised.

And now immediately my brain went into overdrive, trying to find a way out of this situation.

" And since I was so generous with my information, why don't you do the same?" She asked him.

And right then it clicked.

" You wouldn't kill me even if you wanted to." I said matter of factly as I remembered where we were.

" Yes I ca-"

" No, you can't." I cut her off before grinning.

" I'm head of your unit, a prized asset assigned with curing one of the higher ups assets." I told her. " Kill me and you'll be next on the chopping block."

" Bullshit! My father is a General! They would never kill me!" She retorted not knowing that she just gave me even more information on her I could use.

" Ah....now that makes sense." I hummed as the pieces fell into place.

" You somehow got a good background that placed you as a Generals daughter and somehow, you used that to obtain your position...." I told her with a knowing grin as if I found the truth of the world.

" What!? No! I was already second in command of this unit before I took over!" She shouted, flustered and her eyes getting even pinker.

" Be that as it may, you can't kill me or else what do you think a Level 1 can do against the agents around us?" And at my question I saw the gears in her head shifting, the scowl on her face turning grimmer.

She growled for a moment, eyes locked onto me before her facial expressions shifted once more to the bubbly personality she had shown.

" Is there anything else you need Dr Ark?" She asked, a smile popping out of nowhere.

" Actually yes, please provide me with the reports on all our current projects and how far we are on finding that cure." I ordered, a carefree smile on my face just to spite the bitch infront of me.

It probably was infuriating having to adhere to the whims of another player.

" Right away Dr." With that she walked out of my lab and finally I breathed out a sigh of relief.

With my probable death averted, I could finally focus on something else.

That something being how to level up as soon as possible.

From the information drilled into my head I knew of a bit of ways to level up.

Finishing Quests granted either Exp or simply levels depending on the extremities of the quest.

The other is by simply killing things, you obtained a lot of levels from just killing people but there was a level acquisition cap for how many levels one can obtain with one kill. So if a human killed Galactus, he'd likely gain 20 levels and nothing more.

Though the level cap softened as you grow stronger and you needed more exp to level up once.

And the last one I knew was achievements.

I really didn't know how that worked as it wasn't explained as much as we just knew it was there.

So seeing as I had no way of leveling up, I decided to do the only thing I could.

Which was train my skills and also finally utilise my Elixirs Heart talent.

And it wouldn't really be a problem for me since most of my skills were passive and would gain experience so long as I was doing something related to its core concept.

And I also wanted to get accustomed to suddenly having advanced scientific knowledge suddenly dropped into my head.

So after looking around the lab I decided to begin.

Walking up to the cryo-storage unit where a couple dozen samples were stored I looked through it, scanning for anything interesting.

Here I found that I had a bit to work with and some of the material was surprising too, especially due to how valuable some of them were.

But then again it didn't seem that surprising once you realised that I was now a head scientist and that came with perks and access to some high quality stuff.

In the fridge I found zombie blood, flesh and plethora of other things related to zombies.

Then I found mutant blood, which I immediately made note of and since it wasn't in the notes about who's it was I would have to study it myself.

Then I found 3 vials of what was labelled as 'Failed Supersoldier Serum'.

Quickly I grabbed it with a grin, curiosity and an inkling of desire burning within me.

Looking over the purplish liquid I frowned before using my skill [Material Analysis].

[—Item - Failed Corrupted Supersoldier Serum.

—Rank - C+

—Type - Consumable.

—Description - This is what remains of an experiment conducted by Dr Malcom and his unit. An attempt at recreating the famed supersoldier serum, capable of bringing any human to superhuman heights in physical capabilities but something went absolutely wrong through it's production, now this serum is nothing more than a corrupted mutagenic serum.

—Effects - +20 Strength, +20 Agility, +20 Constitution, -50 Intelligence, -50 Wisdom.

—Requirements - Less than 20 in all physical stats.]

" Yikes..." I exclaimed as I saw the effects of the serum.

This wasn't a worthy tradeoff at all, and it requiring you to have less than 20 in all physical stats made this even more not worth it, anyone using the serum would turn into nothing more than a mindless supersoldier, no worse than the zombie's really.

People with a high enough intelligence and wisdom stat would probably be able to keep their consciousness, but at what cost?
