Chapter 33 - “The End Of The Terror ”

The battlefield trembled beneath them as the next stage of the fight officially began. The shattered streets around them were covered in cracks and debris while broken pieces of concrete lay scattered in every direction. Smoke drifted through the air as sparks of electricity continued to dance across the ruined ground. Both Daisuke and Kichatsu stood facing each other without moving. Their bodies were covered in injuries from the relentless battle that had already pushed them far beyond their normal limits. Every muscle in Daisuke's body ached, yet his grip on the spear remained firm. Across from him, Kichatsu slowly raised its head and released a low growl. The creature's body was damaged, but the madness in its eyes had not disappeared. If anything, it had grown stronger. It understood that the battle was approaching its end, and it had no intention of accepting defeat without unleashing everything it had left.

Without warning, Kichatsu exploded forward. The ground shattered beneath its feet as it rushed toward Daisuke with a speed greater than anything it had shown before. Electricity erupted around its body and illuminated the battlefield with flashes of blue light. Daisuke barely managed to react in time. He raised his spear and blocked a devastating punch that struck with enough force to send him sliding backward across the ruined street. Before he could recover, Kichatsu attacked again. Another punch followed. Then another. Then a kick powerful enough to crack the pavement beneath them. Shockwaves continued spreading through the battlefield as the creature launched attack after attack, refusing to allow Daisuke even a moment to breathe. The spectators watching from a distance could only stare in disbelief. Even after everything that had happened, Kichatsu had still been holding back strength for this final stage.

Daisuke quickly realized that matching every attack directly would only lead to his defeat. Instead of relying purely on strength, he began reading the rhythm of Kichatsu's movements. Each strike revealed another small opening. Each attack showed another weakness hidden beneath the creature's aggression. While Kichatsu focused entirely on overwhelming him through raw power, Daisuke remained calm. He dodged by the narrowest margins possible, conserving what little energy he still possessed. A punch passed inches from his face. A kick shattered the ground beside him. Another strike tore through a ruined wall. Yet each failed attack brought Kichatsu closer to making a mistake. Daisuke waited patiently. He knew this battle would not be decided by who attacked more. It would be decided by who made the final mistake.

Frustration slowly began consuming Kichatsu. The creature roared and slammed both fists into the ground. A massive explosion of electricity erupted outward and forced everyone nearby to retreat. Dark clouds gathered overhead as bolts of lightning descended from the sky and struck around the battlefield. The air became heavy with energy. Even Daisuke felt the danger growing. Kichatsu had abandoned caution entirely. It was pouring every remaining fragment of strength into a single objective. Victory. The creature no longer cared about its own survival. It only wanted to destroy the opponent standing before it. Electricity surged wildly across its body as cracks spread through its skin. The power it was releasing had begun damaging itself, yet it continued pushing forward without hesitation.

Daisuke watched silently. His breathing slowed. His heartbeat steadied. The noise of the battlefield seemed distant now. The fear was gone. The frustration was gone. All that remained was clarity. He remembered every lesson he had learned, every battle he had fought, and every obstacle he had overcome to reach this point. He tightened his grip on the spear and lowered his stance. Across from him, Kichatsu gathered every remaining trace of energy into its arms. The electricity surrounding the creature became brighter and brighter until it resembled a living storm. The spectators immediately understood what was happening. This would be the final exchange. Whoever emerged victorious from the next collision would decide the outcome of the battle.

Kichatsu charged first. The creature moved faster than ever before, tearing through the battlefield like a bolt of lightning. The force behind its attack shattered everything in its path. Daisuke stepped forward at the exact same moment. Instead of retreating, he rushed directly toward the incoming attack. The distance between them vanished instantly. For a brief moment, time itself seemed to slow. The spectators could only watch as the two fighters closed in on each other. Then the collision happened. A tremendous shockwave erupted across the battlefield and blasted dust, debris, and broken concrete into the sky. The impact shook the entire district. Buildings already weakened by the battle finally collapsed. Windows shattered. The ground split apart. The resulting explosion engulfed both fighters and hid them completely from view.

Silence followed.

Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. Every eye remained fixed on the massive cloud of dust covering the battlefield. Seconds passed. Then a figure slowly emerged from the destruction. Daisuke stood at the center of the ruined battlefield with his spear extended forward. His breathing was heavy, and fresh injuries covered his body, but he remained standing. Directly in front of him stood Kichatsu. The spear had pierced completely through the creature's chest. The electricity surrounding its body flickered weakly before beginning to fade. For a moment, Kichatsu remained motionless as if refusing to accept reality. Then the strength finally left its body. Daisuke slowly pulled the spear free. The creature staggered backward. One step. Then another. Then another. The energy sustaining it disappeared completely. The monster that had pushed Daisuke to his limits finally collapsed onto the shattered ground with a heavy impact.

The battlefield became quiet. The storm overhead slowly began to fade. The lightning vanished. The dark clouds started breaking apart as sunlight returned once more. Daisuke stared at the fallen creature for a few moments before releasing a long breath. The fight was finally over. Kichatsu, the enemy who had challenged him through five chapters of relentless battle, had fallen. Around the battlefield, the spectators slowly began realizing what they had witnessed. The impossible battle had reached its conclusion. Daisuke turned away from the corpse and began walking across the ruined street, carrying his spear over his shoulder. Behind him remained only silence, broken stone, and the body of the monster that had lost its final battle.
