Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO

**Sophia O'Clery **

As I sank to the floor, my eyes locked onto my dad's lifeless body. The bullet wound on his head seemed to mock me, a harsh reminder of the reality I couldn't escape. My voice cracked as I whispered, "P-pa?" I shook him aggressively, as if somehow, someway, he would respond. Tears streamed down my face, blurring the world around me. The sound of my own ragged breathing was deafening, a stark contrast to the silence that had fallen over my father.

As I wiped away tears with the back of my hand, I stood up, my eyes fixed on the imposing figure before me. Vincenzo D'Amore, leader of the Italian mafia, towered over the man he held by the collar, his broad shoulders squared. His deep voice was a low growl, demanding answers. "Why did you shoot?" The man trembled, his eyes wide with fear.

Vincenzo's gaze never wavered, his eyes glinting with a cold fury that seemed to freeze the air around me. With a swift motion, he tossed the man to the ground like a rag doll. I felt a shiver run down my spine as his icy gaze locked onto mine.

My hand closed around the gun lying beside my father's lifeless body. I raised it, the muzzle pointed squarely at Vincenzo. Our history was etched in blood and betrayal, our families locked in a decades-long feud. Vincenzo's eyes narrowed, his expression unreadable.

"Hello, princess," Vincenzo sneered, his eyes gleaming with malice as he looked down at me. I felt my anger boil over, and I screamed, "You bastard!" as I pulled the trigger. The bullet slammed into his chest, but he didn't flinch. Of course, he'd be wearing a vest. I aimed the gun at his head, ready to finish the job, but before I could pull the trigger again, a burly guard emerged from behind him, shoving my mother forward.

She stumbled, landing hard on her knees. Vincenzo's smirk grew, his voice taking on a sinister tone. "Put your gun down, push it towards me, and get on your knees, or I shoot your mother." His eyes never left mine, the threat hanging in the air like a challenge.

"Take the shot, Sofia!" my mother shouted, her eyes blazing with defiance as she glared at Vincenzo. But I knew the stakes. One wrong move, and she'd be the one lying lifeless on the ground.

I put down my gun shoved it to him and knelt to the ground ignoring my mother's disapproving look.

A figure emerged from the shadows, standing beside Vincenzo like a specter. The pieces clicked into place, and the truth hit me like a ton of bricks. Betrayal. My father's trusted capo stood beside Vincenzo, a smug expression on his face, as if he'd just won a twisted game. My voice barely escaped my lips, a whispered accusation "How could you?" I stared at Leonardo who just stared back.

Vincenzo's cold voice sent shivers down my spine as he ordered, "Cuff them both and kill everyone else. It's time to go." I thrashed against the guard's restraining grip, desperation clawing at my throat. "N-no! You can't do that!" I screamed, my voice hoarse with fear.

Vincenzo turned, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Why not, princess?" he sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "They're my people," I pleaded, my heart racing with panic. "You can't just kill them."

Vincenzo's smile grew, his words cutting deep into my soul. "Don't worry, I'm just killing the loyal ones. I'm ruling over the rest... with you by my side." His gaze lingered on me, filled with a twisted sense of ownership. I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized the true extent of his plan. He planned to take over the Irish mafia and expand his empire.

"Bring her along too " He pointed to a crying fiona who was held by a guard.

As we're dragged across the hall, the sight of various lifeless bodies made me want to puke, the horrid smell of blood fill the air, I heard a grunt I looked back to see my mother has disarmed a guard and is now pointing the gun at Vincenzo. "Let my daughter go you bastard " She yelled....she clicked aggressively on the trigger, unknown to her the gun was empty.

"You really think I'd be stupid enough to arm the guard holding you? " Vincenzo said with a bored expression. I screamed as he shot her, relief swarmed through my veins when I noticed it was a tranquilizer dart. He turned the gun to me and shot, my eyes grew drowsy as the darkness consumed me.

"Goodnight princess "
