Sera slowly took in everything that Kael had just told her.
So---
It wasn't just her?
This had happened to others as well?
Suddenly she wondered how many people were out there, struggling to get out of the same loop as she and Keal had. And if anyone was struggling right now?
But---
There wasn't much she could do about it...
And as Kael concluded his story, silence settled over the little bedroom once more. Not the awkward kind, nor the kind born from strangers who had run out of things to say.
Rather---
It was quiet in the way only two exhausted souls could understand...
Kael remained exactly where he was, his head resting comfortably in Sera's lap as though it had always belonged there. Considering he was far too large for both the tiny bed and the equally tiny room, it should have looked ridiculous.
Instead---
It somehow felt right...
Sera absentmindedly combed her fingers through his dark hair, watching strands slip between them like silk.
