Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: Scout and Gunner

"Where?" Compared to Kai'Sa's reaction, Caleb was still a step slower.

As for Ziggs, he very much wanted to point them toward the right path, but Caleb didn't give him even half a chance to say a word.

"I see it."

Even with sand blasting him full in the face, Caleb managed to spot the stone marker.

"Can you read yordle script?"

Kai'Sa stared at the symbols beside the marker and fell into deep thought.

There were far too many gestures two hands could make. If you didn't understand what those special symbols meant, there was no way to open this portal.

At that point, they'd have to ask Ziggs for help.

The truth was, for all the way Ziggs acted like a lunatic, he was actually a very calculating little bastard.

That was exactly why Caleb refused to trust him.

"Give me a second."

Caleb pulled out a huge, thick book and started comparing the symbols one by one.

That comparison session lasted all the way to sunset.

"Got it." Even Caleb rubbed at his sore, aching eyes and let out a long breath.

Just writing this book must have taken ages.

"Open sesame, abracadabra, alakazam."

As Caleb made the hand signs, he muttered the words under his breath.

"So why did you say three things and make more than ten hand signs?"

"Mind your business."

Caleb couldn't help rolling his eyes.

Saying something like that while throwing hand signs had such a cool dramatic feel to it, and Kai'Sa had ruined the whole mood in one shot.

Sure enough, Kai'Sa could never understand the simple joys of being a guy.

Seven-colored light flared to life, and at that moment Ziggs's eyes filled with tears.

Finally, finally.

After all these endless days of suffering, he could finally see the finish line.

It had not been easy.

"Whoa,"

Caleb let out a startled exclamation as both of their figures vanished from where they stood.

...

"Hm?"

When Caleb opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was a yordle holding a blowgun.

"Teemo?"

Caleb recognized him instantly.

In the game from his previous life, this little menace had disgusted him more times than he could count.

As the saying went, you could lose the fight, but Teemo had to die.

Chain all four of this guy's abilities together and he turned into the ultimate top-lane nightmare.

"You've heard of me?"

Teemo tilted his head. The man in front of him looked strangely familiar with him.

"Nope."

Caleb reached out and vigorously kneaded Teemo's round little face.

"But your face looks like it's seen some things."

"Huh?" As the Swift Scout, Teemo was completely baffled.

Who was this guy?

Why was he acting like they were old friends?

"Stop!"

Teemo shouted as his cheeks got squished in retaliation.

Caleb silently withdrew his hand.

Sure, part of it was revenge for the beatings Teemo had handed him in his previous life, but Caleb still knew where to draw the line.

"What brings you here this time?" Teemo asked seriously.

"Heimerdinger asked me to deliver Ziggs to you."

As Caleb spoke, he turned to look for the cage.

Thankfully, the thing he'd been worried about hadn't happened. Ziggs was still tied up inside it.

You'd think a reunion between countrymen would end with tears in their eyes.

Not this one.

Teemo fired a dart straight into Ziggs's big face.

"Aaaagh!"

Ziggs screamed, covering his eye and rolling around on the ground.

"That's for snapping my bamboo pole two hundred years ago!"

Teemo stomped over in a huff, then looked up and said, "Open it!"

"Sure?" Caleb was a little stunned, but he still tipped Ziggs out of the cage.

Teemo lifted his stubby little legs and started stomping on Ziggs over and over.

"What exactly is going on here?"

Caleb had no idea what was happening, but he picked Teemo up anyway.

"Take it easy..."

He tried to soothe the yordle in his arms.

"Hoo..." Teemo let out a long breath, then put on the same sunny smile as before.

"All right. I forgive him for using an explosion to shatter my favorite mug three hundred and twenty-seven years ago."

"You really hold a grudge..."

Caleb muttered, then looked around to either side.

"Where's Kai'Sa?"

"The girl who came with you?" Teemo thought for a moment, then pointed upward. "She woke up before you did."

Caleb looked up and saw Kai'Sa struggling inside a rope net, trying to tear her way free.

"She was terrifying." Teemo still looked shaken.

"Let her down..." Caleb said helplessly.

From the look of it, Kai'Sa must have woken up before he did and spotted Teemo.

And the moment she saw he was holding a blowgun, she had chosen to strike first.

That definitely fit the Void survival style, but Teemo had been ready in advance with a net trap.

Teemo lightly tapped a mechanism beside him. The glow around the rope net vanished, and Kai'Sa dropped hard to the ground, sending leaves flying everywhere.

"Calm down."

Seeing that the killing intent in Kai'Sa's eyes still hadn't faded, Caleb planted a hand right on top of her head.

Kai'Sa nodded in silence. Caleb then bent down and picked up the motionless Ziggs from the ground.

"Then the two of you can follow me."

Teemo skipped cheerfully up ahead to lead the way, while Kai'Sa and Caleb silently followed behind.

"You okay?" Caleb turned his head and asked when he saw that Kai'Sa still looked wronged.

Both of them had long legs. One step from either of them covered about three of Teemo's, so keeping up was easy.

"I'm fine." Kai'Sa had spent a while thrashing in that net, trying to break free, but not for too long.

"Let's check out the yordle market later and see if there's anything fun."

Caleb made the suggestion.

Even if this was really Teemo's fault, Caleb still felt like Kai'Sa needed a little cheering up.

"Okay." Kai'Sa's eyes seemed to light up at once.

Caleb, meanwhile, glanced at his system inventory.

He wondered whether the goods he'd picked up in Shurima, along with the Piltover stuff he had on him, could sell for a good price here.

They hadn't walked very far when a yordle with a full head of silver hair came into view.

"Gunner Tristana." Teemo snapped a salute toward her and reported solemnly, "Heimerdinger has sent Ziggs to us."

"Throw him in the dungeon and let the court decide his fate."

Her response was just as firm, carrying the unmistakable air of a soldier.

"Then... we'll be on our way?"

Looking at Tristana, Caleb felt an odd kind of pressure.

"She seems really strong..."

His eyes drifted toward the hand cannon in Tristana's grip, and he fell into thought.

But she was a ranged fighter...

By all rights, she shouldn't feel this oppressive...

When Teemo noticed Caleb staring at Tristana, he immediately stepped in front of her.

"What are you trying to do?"

He didn't block much. Caleb could still see Tristana's face over Teemo's head.

"Nothing... I just get the feeling you're really strong..."

The moment she heard that, Tristana broke into a bright smile.

"Of course I am. All these years of hard work have paid off."

"Speaking of which..." Caleb pulled out a camera and crouched down in front of the two of them. "Could I get a signed photo too?"

With a sharp click and flash, the two yordles left their names on the photograph.

"Then I'll take my leave."

The Teemo and Tristana standing before him counted as top-tier fighting power in Bandle City.

If Ziggs still managed to get loose after this, then he could rampage through the city for all Caleb cared.

Caleb looked around. Bandle City was huge, and he still needed to take care of the other matter Heimerdinger had asked him to handle as quickly as possible.

Standing in front of the stone marker, Caleb felt a powerful force awaken.

The direction it came from was the exact one where the Sun Disc stood.
