Part 2. Mommy's Revenge
Some lessons…
Are taught gently.
Some—
Are demonstrated.
And Elara?
She preferred to show.
The Aftermath of Defeat
Ryan was still crying.
Loud.
Unbothered.
Damian stood there—
Watching him.
"…He was asleep."
"…He was pretending."
Elara said, still smiling.
"…Babies don't pretend."
"…This one does."
Ryan cried again.
"…Fix it."
Damian said, stepping aside slightly.
Elara raised a brow.
"…Fix it?"
"…Yes."
"…So now you need help?"
"…I don't need help."
A pause.
"…I'm allowing assistance."
Elara laughed softly.
"…Move."
Mommy Steps In
She stood up slowly—
Walking toward the crib.
Ryan was still crying—
Tiny face scrunched.
But the moment she leaned closer—
Her presence changed the air.
"…Hey…"
She whispered softly.
Ryan's cries softened slightly.
"…It's okay…"
She picked him up gently—
Effortless.
Natural.
"…You're just tired, hmm?"
Damian watched closely.
Every movement.
Every detail.
Elara swayed slowly.
Soft rhythm.
Soft voice.
"…Close your eyes…"
"…Mommy's here…"
Ryan quieted.
Almost immediately.
Damian blinked.
"…That was fast."
"…I told you."
"…You didn't tell me how."
"…Because you don't listen."
"…I listen."
"…No."
"…Yes."
"…No."
Ryan let out a soft breath.
Then—
Silence.
He was asleep.
The Demonstration
Elara didn't rush.
She walked slowly—
Placing Ryan back into the crib.
Gentle.
Careful.
She adjusted his blanket.
Brushed her fingers lightly over his hair.
Then stepped back.
Ryan didn't move.
Didn't cry.
Didn't wake.
Damian stared.
"…Explain."
Elara turned—
A small smile on her lips.
"…It's simple."
"…It's not simple."
"…It is."
She stepped closer to him.
"…You don't command him."
"…You feel him."
"…You don't control him."
"…You calm him."
"…And most importantly…"
She reached up—
Her hand resting gently against his cheek.
"…You don't fight him."
Her eyes met his.
"…You love him."
Silence.
Not heavy.
Soft.
Real.
The Payoff
Damian didn't speak immediately.
He just looked at her.
At the calm in her expression.
At the warmth in her eyes.
Then—
His hand moved.
Resting gently on her waist.
Pulling her closer.
"…You're good at this."
"…I know."
She teased softly.
"…Very good."
"…Careful."
"…You're starting to sound impressed."
"…I am impressed."
Her smile softened.
"…Say that again."
"…I'm impressed."
"…One more time."
"…Elara—"
She laughed softly.
"…Okay, okay."
But before she could step back—
He didn't let her.
His hand stayed on her waist.
Holding her there.
"…Thank you."
He said quietly.
Her expression softened instantly.
"…For what?"
"…For this."
His eyes moved—
To Ryan.
Then back to her.
"…For us."
Her breath caught slightly.
"…Damian…"
He leaned closer.
Their foreheads touching.
"…You make this easy."
"…It's not easy."
She whispered.
"…But it's worth it."
A pause.
Then—
She closed the distance.
Kissing him softly.
Slow.
Gentle.
A kiss filled with everything they didn't say.
When they pulled apart—
They didn't move away.
They stayed.
Close.
End Scene — Love in the Quiet Moments
Love isn't always loud.
Sometimes—
It's found in small victories.
In quiet nights.
In shared smiles.
And in the space between two people…
Who choose each other—
Again and again.
And tonight?
Elara didn't just win.
She reminded him—
What love looks like when it's gentle.
To be continued…
