Riley's POV
The road stretches endlessly ahead of us as we drive through the day without stopping. Neither of us speaks much. I think we both need time to process what we've done, to let our minds catch up with the choices we've made.
When we finally pull into a gas station, the sun is already setting. Theo gets out to fill the tank, and I ask if he wants anything from inside. I definitely need to grab something from the store. I gather snacks and drinks, rushing them back to the car before telling him I need to use the restroom.
I can see him scanning the area, his eyes darting around like he's searching for threats he can't even name.
The bathroom is around the side of the building. It's disgusting and smells terrible, but I don't have the luxury of being picky right now. I take the pregnancy test from my pocket and wait. My hands shake as I stare at the floor.
