Caleb's POV
Riley settles into the chair across from my father's desk, though everyone knows I'm the one who truly runs this pack now. The only thing holding back the official title is finding my Luna, but since Riley returned, my father hasn't pressured me about it. Her hands fidget restlessly in her lap, fingers twisting together as anxiety radiates from her every movement.
I remain silent, waiting for her to speak. Something tells me she has important news to share.
Questions burn in my throat, but the tension in her posture suggests she's fighting an internal battle. When she finally meets my eyes, her words hit me like lightning.
"I spoke with my wolf last night."
My eyes widen in shock. "What?" The word explodes from me louder than intended.
A smile breaks across her face despite her obvious nervousness. "She's beautiful, Caleb. Absolutely stunning."
Of course she is. My wolf immediately begins pacing restlessly in my mind, desperate to meet her counterpart.
