Caleb's POV
Hours pass before Riley finally stirs awake, her eyes opening slowly to stare blankly at the ceiling above us. The silence stretches between us like a fragile thread, but then she offers both Mason and me the faintest smile. Without a word, she carefully lifts herself over my body and slides off the bed, padding quietly toward her own room. Mason and I exchange worried glances as we follow her, both of us hoping desperately that she isn't retreating back into herself.
The bathroom door clicks shut behind her as she disappears into the shower. Mason and I find ourselves standing in her bedroom, the sound of running water filling the uncomfortable quiet. We settle onto her bed to wait, neither of us wanting to leave her alone right now.
