Riley's POV
The pieces are starting to fall into place, though I suppose it makes perfect sense that my stress triggers these episodes. Every single time the spells hit, something monumental is unraveling around me. Then again, I can't recall a moment lately when my stress levels weren't through the roof.
Caleb's voice cuts through my thoughts with quiet authority. "Alright, Freya. Let's hear it." His tone suggests he wants this conversation settled quickly so we can focus on whatever plan lies ahead. I can feel the tension radiating from his body where he holds me.
Freya draws in a shaky breath, her eyes finding mine. "Riley, you understand that I pick up on things others can't. Feelings, energy, spirits." She waits for my acknowledgment, and I give her a small nod. "The night Theo and I had that terrible fight, just days after I joined your group on the road, I finally sensed something crucial. You had no idea Theo was a wolf."
