Riley's POV
Silas takes a deep breath before speaking, his expression thoughtful and serious.
"I don't know, Riley... I think everything that happened and is going to happen, happened for a reason," he says, his voice carrying a weight of conviction that makes me pause. "Not that you enjoyed any of it, but everything that unfolded, everything still waiting to happen, it all seems orchestrated by something bigger than us."
I stare at him, not knowing how to process what he's saying, but something deep inside me stirs at his words.
"You left to protect us, and I believe you succeeded," Silas continues, his voice steady and certain. "Your presence here was putting everyone in danger. We were too young, too inexperienced to handle that kind of threat properly."
I stare at him, confusion swirling through my thoughts, but he presses on.
