Caleb's POV
He has been fighting to shield her from harm all along. Even before Riley drew her first breath, he wanted Vanessa to flee with her unborn child. He desperately wished for them to disappear where the darkness within him could never reach them.
I glance down at Riley as her sobs begin to quiet. She brushes the tears from her cheeks with trembling fingers, then lifts her gaze to meet mine. Her eyes are rimmed red from crying. "Can we find a way to save him?"
"Save who exactly? The moon stalker?" Jace interjects, drawing both our attention. Riley gives him a firm nod before turning toward Freya with desperate hope written across her features. "Is there some method to extract the evil that possesses him?" Riley's voice breaks as she makes her plea.
Freya furrows her brow, uncertainty clouding her expression. "I honestly don't know. Perhaps there might be something. Tell me exactly what you witnessed in your vision."
