Michael looked me in the eye and gave a kind grin.
I smiled back at him before I calmed my tense nerves and stepped closer to him. I was worried like I was about to get dropped in the middle of the Serengeti when I was outside the door, but my worries melted away at light speed when I actually got inside. The atmosphere was so holy and serene that if there was a speaker here surely Libera’s Sanctus would be on as background music.
“Why doesn’t His Grace attend the baptism? He seemed quite worried about you, Lady Heathcliff…,” Michael asked as though Hades being here wasn’t a problem at all.
I shook my head with an awkward smile. “He is just overprotective. It’s not like I’m about to enter some magical beast’s lair.”
“I think what worries him more is that there are some high priests that are men,” Michael said as he nodded as though to say that he fully understood Hades’ sentiment.
