Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Good Boy, So Obedient?

June 5, 1991.

Evening, the sun was setting in the west.

8 Heathgate Street, Hampstead Garden Suburb, London. This was the home of the renowned dentists, the Grangers.

Dim light filtered through the window, shining into the bedroom of this classic English villa.

A little girl with bushy brown hair, wearing pink teddy bear pajamas, sat at a neat and tidy desk, earnestly studying a copy of Aristotle's Politics.

If nothing unexpected happened, she would be attending London's best private school, Eton College, in September.

And this book was one of the textbooks for the politics class at Eton.

Although her parents were both from the middle class, little Hermione Granger had no desire to inherit their skills and become a dentist when she grew up.

Therefore, she studied hard every day, just so she could have better career choices in the future.

Immersed in her studies, time always flew by quickly.

As the light in the room grew dimmer, Hermione blinked her beautiful light-green eyes and was just about to turn on the desk lamp.

Suddenly, a faint blue light appeared behind her, illuminating the entire room.

Hermione Granger turned around curiously, and upon seeing something seemingly impossible, her eyes instantly widened.

She saw a portal with edges shimmering in blue light miraculously appearing right in her bedroom.

Hermione also witnessed a 'dead kid' wearing thin clothes, covered in blood, fall out of the portal, crashing headfirst into her fluffy duvet and being buried by a few Cabbage Patch Kids dolls scattered on the bed.

"Ah—Mom! Help!"

Hermione screamed in terror at the sight. She thought she had just seen a dead body; this was clearly a scene straight out of a horror movie!

Downstairs in the kitchen, Mrs. Granger, wearing an apron and preparing dinner, felt her heart clench at her daughter's scream. She hurriedly stomped up the wooden stairs to the second floor, her footsteps echoing "thump, thump, thump."

"Bang!" She pushed the bedroom door open.

When Mrs. Granger saw her daughter pointing at the blood-soaked child on the bed, she nearly had a heart attack herself.

"Whoa... oh my!"

The only man of the house, Mr. Granger, was still working overtime at the dental clinic.

Faced with this sudden incident, Mrs. Granger was completely at a loss for what to do.

"Take me away, Mom, it's too scary here!"

Hermione was so frightened that she hugged her mother's leg tightly, her eyes squeezed shut, not even daring to take another look.

"Mom is here, don't be afraid... By the way, where did this child come from?"

Mrs. Granger calmed down. While gently comforting her daughter, she stepped forward to check if the child was still breathing.

"Boohoo... so scary..." Hermione kept sobbing. Her mind was a blank, and she was in no state to answer her mother's question.

When Mrs. Granger discovered the child was still breathing, she couldn't help but cry out in surprise, "Good heavens!"

And Hermione, still clinging to her mother's leg, was startled into screaming once again.

"Ah—"

Flustered, it took Mrs. Granger quite a while to soothe her daughter. She immediately called the hospital, dispatching an ambulance to take away the blood-covered child on the bed.

...

A week later, Mrs. Granger received news from the hospital.

The child's injuries had completely healed.

The hospital's assessment of the child, whose recovery speed was unbelievably fast, was that he was a miracle boy!

However, for some unknown reason, the child remained in a deep coma.

The doctors speculated that the child might have also suffered a blow to the head when injured, causing a mild concussion. He might need an external stimulus to wake up from the coma.

Since the hospital couldn't do anything more for this condition, they suggested it would be better to let the child rest at home; perhaps he would just wake up one day.

In reality, the reason for Harvey's coma was very simple.

It was because the magic of this world was slowly transforming his physique, causing him to remain unconscious for a prolonged period.

However, Mrs. Granger didn't understand any of this. Being kind-hearted and considering that the child's parents couldn't be found for the time being, she temporarily brought Harvey back home to recover.

There was now a child in a 'vegetative' state in their house.

From her initial discomfort to gradually getting used to having a 'Sleeping Beauty' at home, it took Hermione only three days.

Two weeks later, June 23rd.

8 Heathgate Street, second-floor bedroom of the villa.

While little Hermione was studying in her room, she suddenly realized that the objects around her—including the desk, chair, wardrobe, dressing table, and dolls—were all floating in the air.

"Hmm... why are these things floating and violating the laws of physics?" This miraculous scene gave Hermione an inexplicable sense of deja vu.

She had encountered this kind of magical phenomenon once before when she was seven.

Thinking of the portal that suddenly appeared a few weeks ago, and this familiar scene, Hermione fell into deep thought.

"Could it be that I've become... a legendary magical girl?"

Meanwhile, in the guest room on the second floor of the villa.

Harvey, who had been in a coma for two whole weeks, slowly opened his eyes and saw a solid wood ceiling and an unfamiliar environment.

"Where... is this? I'm so thirsty..."

Harvey's hoarse voice carried a deep sense of exhaustion.

He had never felt his body so weak, but considering his tiny frame had taken a bullet, surviving was already a miracle.

Now, just feeling a bit drained and thirsty was nothing at all...

Thinking of his thirst, Harvey was suddenly amazed to find a glass of water floating in mid-air right in front of him.

"T-This... Do I have superpowers?"

But on second thought, Harvey didn't find it too strange. After all, there was no rule saying a transmigrator could only have one cheat code, right?

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

"Child? I thought I heard your voice. Are you awake?"

The unfamiliar voice of a middle-aged woman outside the door instantly put Harvey on high alert.

With no time to slowly explore the issue of his superpowers, he quickly reached out, grabbed the floating glass of water, and gulped it down hastily. His weak body rapidly recovered some strength.

Having regained some strength, Harvey naturally wasn't going to lie in bed and wait to be slaughtered. He was just about to get up and make a run for it.

"Click—"

The door had already been pushed open.

Mrs. Granger, wearing a light blue checkered dress, looked at Harvey on the bed with absolute delight.

"Goodness! Child, you're finally awake?"

Harvey was utterly confused. He looked warily at this unfamiliar middle-aged woman.

"Who are you?"

"Don't be afraid, child. I'm Kate Granger Wendell."

Mrs. Granger first gave a brief introduction of herself, and then slowly recounted the events of the past few weeks to Harvey.

"Three weeks ago, you poor thing appeared in our house covered in blood, nearly scaring my lovely little daughter half to death..."

Upon hearing this, Harvey instantly dropped his guard. It seemed this middle-aged woman named Granger was a good person.

"By the way, child, are you hungry? I've made lunch..." Mrs. Granger asked with concern.

Feeling his stomach completely empty, Harvey didn't stand on ceremony and just nodded, admitting he was hungry.

"Can you walk by yourself? You lay in the hospital for a week, and then at home for two more weeks. I'm worried your body hasn't fully recovered yet..."

Seeing Harvey preparing to get out of bed, a worried Mrs. Granger leaned over, intending to support him.

"No help needed, I've pretty much recovered. Thank you for your concern, Mrs. Granger."

Speaking with such an immature child's voice made Harvey feel a bit awkward.

Seeing that the child could already walk on his own, Mrs. Granger nodded in relief and said, "Child, you must be starving. Let me take you down to the dining room on the first floor to eat."

Subsequently, Harvey followed Mrs. Granger out of the guest room, walking along the second-floor hallway toward the staircase.

As they passed a room with two wind chimes hanging on the door, Mrs. Granger stopped and turned to explain to Harvey:

"Child, wait here a moment. I'll go grab my daughter so we can eat together."

Harvey nodded his little head, looking like a picture of obedience.

"Good boy, so obedient!"

Mrs. Granger praised the worry-free Harvey, then turned and knocked on the door.

Just as Harvey broke into a smile at the praise, he suddenly realized what was happening and felt a wave of shame.

With the mental age of a thirty-year-old, he actually felt happy over a simple compliment??
